If I want to make doorways like the one in the picture below, how would I go about doing that?

I want the player to be able to walk through it, but that specific tile is impassable. I can't change that type of tile to a "star"  either.

I was going to use yanfly's restrict region to counter that change so that the player could walk under it, but not through all the other walls.

Any tips, tricks, or ideas?

I am also guessing you can't really event that tile into place either. Also assumng this is MV, I just was looking at all the plugins available and there is one where you can use region tiles, and then just put one region block on that spot (or others that yuo want to be passable). It technically should work but I haven't messed around with it yet, so I am not 100% sure. I'll try and dig up the plugin.

That's what I was thinking with the Yanfly Region Restrict add-on, but the problem is that the character walks on top of it instead of under it :p

I use an open close door effect in my games. You can copy and paste the tile above the door into the _B or _C tilesets, leave the tile abive the door as normal floor. And shift click a non -endcapped part of the top of the walls to prevent the auto tile from affecting either side of the top of the door. Then in the B or C tileset place your copied tile abive the door and make sure to set it's passablility to Star.

Now your character will walk under the doorway! No plugins or events required!

At work atm so i will post screen shots when i get home.

You don't need plugins or anything else.  Just simple mapping.  I do this all the time - not just vertically, but also sideways.

Make a tile for B-E tile sheet of what the ceiling tile will look like.  Put it on the tile sheet, mark it with a star passability.

Leave a gap where the door will be and put in your star tile.

Use shift-click mapping so that the autotile either side looks like it is continuing on.

EDIT

ninja'd by a microsecond.

Okay, so I tried what you guys told me and got some results, but still running into issues.

I am able to go under the "roof" tile seen in the 1st picture, but only from the bottom, and then I get stuck under it and can't go all the way through.

Here are some pictures of the settings...maybe I'm just missing something super obvious -.-

EDIT: Oddly enough...when I put the tiles on the map itself, it wouldn't work, but when I put them there as events "above character" it worked like a charm. *shrug*

EDIT2: Now my character is walking into the woods on the sides even though I set the passability to the left/right side of the tiles to off...gonna have to keep trying to figure it out. :/

I will be home in 2 hours and post a tutorial video on how to do this for you and others who may need it.

To block the ability to walk into tiles at either side

either put a blank event, set to 'same as characters'

or, if you are using it, put a block with either Yanfly's Region restrictions or Hudells Region Collision plugin

As for the walk up but not down problem

You have to have a passable ground tile underneath the star tile.  Did you put grass all the way?

@Ksjp: It's working now for whatever reason...I deleted the tiles from the map, saved my project, put the tiles back on the map, saved the project, did a test-play, and bam, it decided to work.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
