I'm making a racing RPG, and I would like a script that would display a Mario Kart Wii-style minimap. They look like this (on the bottom right):

I would like the script to make a minimap on the bottom right corner off the screen, and have display only certain tiles (can it be customizable in the script?) as a semitransparent gray color. Also, can it be on only certain maps or with a certain switch (also customizable in the script?)? Lastly, can it display only certain events as a certain graphic (i.e the finish line, oppenents and the player?)?

Example:

Talking to an NPC that you race at Port Town Racetrack (no minimap displayed yet).

Race starts as minimap displays.

You can race by seeing yourself on the map as well as your opponent, and finish line.

When the race is done, you go back to the map where you talked to the NPC as the minimap fades away.

I'm assuming it won't be that easy, but help will be appreciated.

Two problems - the ZIP contains a project and not a script (I don't want to have to transfer everything from my existing game), and the screenshots look like it's not exactly what I had in mind.

You only need to extract the script from the project... plus some extra files maybe...

also about the 2nd prob, as Dark Paladin said,

Its possible to customize it how your describing with a little work.

The project in the zip contains the script. All you have to do is copy paste it into your project then transfer the graphic files from it to yours. And as I pointed out in my first post you can customize it how you want it to look. The screenshots are with all features active.

The map can be altered in photoshop to make it look like the mario kart minimap and you can chose which icons if any it shows on the minimap. The Icons also can move with the events or flash on the minimap. It is a very good customizable script, but you have to put a little work in it.

You can also reposition it or change the size and zoom however you need to. This one script makes it possible to create any kind of minimap you can think of.

5 Minutes with Gimp and changing Settings:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
