So for my game, I got a little idea, from the Super Mario series, to collect coins from the overworld, with graphics, and a gold hud that shows how many coins you have without needing to go to the menu. When you walk on it, it will play the RTP "Coin" sound, then it will add 1 to your gold and finally, it will disappear so you can't collect one coin multiple times. I wanna hear you guys thoughts about this, because I'm not sure if I want to use it or not. I will post some screenshots down below for a little preview.

This is how it basically looks. All the coins are moving slightly up and down, for an added effect. Might add a "spin" animation later, but for now, I will stick to this.

How it looks when some coins are collected. As you can see in the hud below, some coins are added.

So, let me know what you think of this! Thanks! :)

I think this idea is awesome. Though do you plan on having enemies drop gold coins to? If you had lots of coins on the map and have enemies drop lots of coins then it would be to easy to buy stuff. If you do this you might want to moderate how much money enemies drop.

I will most likely do this in a future project, because this one is a puzzle game and doesn't have fighting/battles. But it's a great idea--I will definitely use it! Seems like a good idea in an Action RPG.

I think its a good idea for a puzzle game esp since the means to get money may be more limited.

My only suggestion, which is more of a personal preference would be to change the coin icon a bit. Currently the coins just look like yellow marbles on the floor.

Haha you may be right! It looks more like coins when they're floating in the air with their animations, though.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
