"Mary Sue Must Die!" is an RPG about a diverse cast of characters that must restore creativity and imagination to the world after the twisted Superhero Wokeman, obliterates all that is creative because creativity is problematic!


Before continuing with the plot synopsis I want to mention that both the Protagonist and Antagonist are flawed and that they go after each other due to a misunderstanding of each other's motives, this becomes apparent at the the end of the game after the final boss so don't feel weirded out that the Antagonist is woke and that the overall message is that you can have diversity and have good writing at the same time.


PLOT SUMMARY:
Meet Mavis, an Autistic woman living with her landlord, a talking dog (BTW, you can rename Mavis). However when Wokeman comes to town and kidnaping the local superhero, IRS Man, and killing the local bookwriter and friend of Mavis Willy Wetbert. Mavis now needs to avenge him but faces a tough challenge as Wokeman has an army of Mary Sues at his disposal, an army of perfect, flawless warriors. Mavis must kill them all! On the way she meets an African American knight named Boston, who was ostracized by Wokeman because of his strong physique being a sign of toxicity and a magic anime girl named Momo who got brought into the real world due to her consumption of magic Space Crack, then they meet a transgender Shinto Priestess named Rachel. The three journey off to fight the various Mary Sues until tragedy strikes when Momo is run over by a truck summoned by Wokeman after rescuing IRS Man.

In order to bring Momo back from the brink, Mavis and the gang head off to the planet Kamen to find the Mercury Balls in order to summon Freaky Mercury (Copyright free Freddie Mercury) to wish Momo back from the dead but trouble is found when Mavis comes across Mary Sue and space tyrant Steza and her Spice Force (basically a double parody of High Guardian Spice and Freza and the Ginyu Force).Then the gang come across a guardian of Kamen, a green man named Bassoon who then joins the party. Once the Mary Sues have been dealt with and Momo is brought back from the Shadow Realm. They return to Earth only to see that chaos has ensued and now four powerful Mary Sues have appeared!

The party goes after them restoring peace on Earth by defeating the four Mary Sues. Mavis and the gang raid Wokeman's secret base which was located underneath a crackhouse. Turns out he escaped to the planet Saturn due to the planet not having a extradition treaty with the Earth. So they go to Saturn and defeat some more Mary Sues and then we head the third and final part of the game.

Upon return to Earth Mavis learns that a local Civil Rights group plans to blow up the Earth using a Hyperthermonuclear device known as the "Tsar Bomba II". The bomb is disarmed and the team head to the Moon to fight Wokeman once and for all. The final encounter happens after a lengthy dungeon crawl. But after the final boss fight, Wokeman is undefeated so the two start an argument which is ended after a naked time traveling John F. Kennedy (a la Terminator) appears who tells Mavis and Wokeman that they both simultaneously right and wrong. Naked JFK tells Wokeman that representation in media is important but must also the media in question must be of good quality. Naked JFK then tells Mavis that artistic expression is important but must also be accepting of change and the importance of nuance. Then Naked JFK, Wokeman, and Mavis sing a song and then the credits roll after which Naked JFK does a parody of those Sonic Sez videos and then New Game+ is unlocked.

Game Mechanics and Structure
The game is split into three chunks called discs (Mimicking the multi-disc structure of PS1 RPGs) as evident as to why the plot is broken up into three paragraphs. The game would have a crafting system and a dynamic class changing system with all the party members having access to multiple classes, New Game+, some sort of battle system I can pull out from my rear, and the usual suspects of VisuStella and CGMZ plugins such as vehicle interiors, achievements, beastiary and some other things.

While the game has a wee bit of a political thing going, its intention is not to be political but a commentary on the prevalence of Mary Sue characters in Western media and why they are there. My usual wacky and quirky writing style would help to alleviate any such fears that this is me doing some sort of funny business that isn't so funny. So yeah expect wacky stuff here.

The game would also attempt to leapfrog my previous game "Tales of Your" in terms of content so expect lots of sidequests including a fetch quest in which you need to arrest a drunken Boris Johnson but need to find better breathalyzers as his breath keeps on making them explode until find one that doesn't. Also you do sidequests for a police chief who got defunded so hard its just him and his male mistress Larry (also the jail cell is rented out to a homeless shopkeep called Ratchety Ann in order to keep the lights on).

As you can tell the game has a diverse cast of characters designed for having diversity whilst also not skimping on the writing and characterization quality because I want to prove a point. Also I am considering this project to be my first game on Steam once I get around to actually making it since I'm waiting on some stuff first before I have to jump into development.

Mavis is your basic Swords user. She has access to basic magic skills and offensive and self-support skills. She is the main protagonist and she is autistic and social awkward as such and is highly knowledgeable of random useless junk.​

Boston is your typical knight tank character can dish out the pain and receive it too. Likes to workout but wants people to like him and thus Wokeman made him self-conscious of himself after he banished Boston and thus is a bit insecure.

Momo is your typical Magical Anime Girl, with access to strong magic attacks she can dish out attacks without resorting to physical aggression. It is implied she has a drug problem due to her need to cope with being in a saccharine anime world before accidentally leaving it.​

Rachel is the priest/healer of the team. She is transgender but her personality doesn't stop there as she is quite cheeky and rude and always looking to make a quick buck but she means well and will help those out in need.

Bassoon is a green alien from Kamen and is a guardian of one the villages. Due to his fighting ability he has access to strong magic provided you can find the MP to use them. He joins the party due to his want to defeat Steza and help solve the Wokeman problem on Earth due to his want to protect people and his planet.​

Frankie is a self-insert character unlocked through a series of sidequests. However unlike other self-insert characters, Frankie is a pathetic joke party member. He is basically Neco-Arc but worse.


There are a couple more characters I have thought up of but they are unfinished in the concept stage and will be added later if this project is being actively pursued.

Make Mavis into Mavis B (Mavis Beacon). She attacks with fast, accurate typing. As an added bonus, she is extra "diverse", as she is black. As an added added bonus, you get to make a bunch of "type" jokes, to poke fun at the ridiculousness of categorizing people by what type they are (and type-casting), and make jokes about pressing peoples buttons, "key" items, and whatnot.

Since she is NOT a mary sue, every once in a while, she typos.

There are "spellcheck" and "auto-correct" abilities in the game that make her question her self-worth. Throughout the story, she will have to overcome these doubts about herself.

I mean I'll consider it, haven't thought of Mavis beacon. I just kinda pulled the Mavis name because I needed a female name real quick at the time since the main protag was unnamed until I wrote this.

LOL! Imagine some lady on a 90's educational software teaching you RPG Maker? That's really funny.

Can Momo be an opioid (I don't wanna say the "H" word) addict instead of a crackhead, please? :p
The withdrawals are way worse than crack. Thus, it would feel more accomplishing and satisfying if or when Momo eventually overcomes her addiction. Oh, and make her loyal to the foil cuz rigs are bad, mkay?

I'll see what I can do. Personally I hate Opioids due to how much of a negative they can have once someone is addicted to it. Momo I imagined wouldn't be a crackhead per se but rather a general drug user who uses and abuses a variety of drugs due to her not liking life inside a bright and cheery 80's Magical Girl anime. As for that last part about her being loyal to foil, I don't get.

Well I haven't decided what her moveset would be. Mostly offensive elemental attacks I reckon but I'm using the VisuStella class change system so there would be different types of Magic classes such as Pyro/Cyro and a type of class for multi-enemy attacks. I need more time to figure things out.

Due to my unique situation at home I won't be able to start development but I would once I'm able to confirm that I can release this unto Steam once I'm allowed to.
