So if the site is down and Hudell is AWOL, may I suggest someone start a new site from anew?
I believe someone already did(or at least started), I don't remember who. But there is a thread about this.

[EDIT] - Here is the thread!

Here is the website!

I'm also creating a site, will be online soon. ^^
Nice!

I was already though to make one too. But there is you and @BenSD already doing, so it's fine. Besides, I would still have to learn and also have time to do.

What I think was nice on the Hudell one, is that the plugin author can put their plugins there by itself.
Ben's way is also fine, but that will let him overwhelmed with the number of inputs he will have to do I think.

Well, it's just some opinions of mine. Glad you people are making this ^^

Oh I didn't saw that, do you know how it worked? Like form and the entries were entered automatically?

It has a simple login system. So let's say I created an account there.
Then I was able to add my plugins there with that information(as I recorded):
  • Plugin Name
  • Short Description
  • Engine Version (MV/MZ)
  • Link or file(I guess only link was just fine too)
  • Instructions (Like a big description)
It also has an option for users to rate the plugins. The only print I manage to find here was that:

Thanks, good to know.
I don't know how exactly I'll do it yet, but here's a little WIP.

I work with WordPress and bought a table-plugin that allows you to sort or search for anything.

I will buy the domain at the end of this month (rpgmaker-dev.com) & make the site public, until then I'm working on the site and thinking about the system I want to use (via login, submissions / a form,...).

Looking real good to me!
I think we, meaning the community too, just need a condensed way to look for the plugins like the old makers' dev was.
So, if you either go to login/submission forms or whatever, is fine to me, as long you also enjoy the process and what you are doing, because that part also matters :)

@GamesOfShadows
like the other has, you, you could sort it to A to Z in alphabetic order,
but you could also sort it by core, battle, save, ingame, map, utilities
etc which is probably better so you know in what spot you need to
place it in your data base.

so far I have, is 12 categories, and so far I use that, I got really low
compability issues, but see what works better for you, but also
linking the price is nice, which also have a downside.

some prices may raise or lower over time, and adjusting that constantly
can be also a pain.

I think you could make a seperate or just "free" and "paid" :)
it's just a suggestion though.

@ShadowDragon Thanks for the suggestion, I will add a "category"-section and yeah I didn't thought of that, so I will change the "Price" to "free" or "paid". ^^

it's less modification that way, the price can be found on the site.

here is my category list (might be extended later) as many get
compability issues if they just place it anywhere.

some plugins require on a specific place to work, and MUST
follow that, otherwise, if not specific, this list is ideal.

- Core Plugins
- Battle Plugins
- Item Plugins
- Skill Plugins
- Equip Plugins
- Status Menu Plugins
- Gameplay Plugins
- Movement Plugins
- Quest Plugins
- Options Menu Plugins
- Eventing Plugins
- Utility Plugins

and it combines YEP category list, CGMV, Galv as most have the same
of the plugins they made.

if you want to add by category or to be found in the category while
in alphabetic, you can use this list as well :)

Hmmm... I got the idea to use "tags" like:

Core

Battle
Actor
Skill
Class
Item
Weapon
Armor
Enemy
Troops
Status
Equip

Gameplay
Minigame

Movement
Eventing

Map
Audio
Visual
Animation
Tileset

Menu
Quest
HUD
Options
Message
Translation

But this may be to much?

@GamesOfShadows @ShadowDragon
Although I like the category system, I think it will not always work perfectly. Because there are plugins that cover multiple areas.

Instead of creating categories, I guess is just better to let the user search through the list using the words he wants. That search can target the plugin's name and description.

So this leaves the plugin author the work of writing his description in a way the user can find and understand the plugin category/features.

And also, leaves @GamesOfShadows less work to do.

I think it will work like the categories idea you both have, you just won't have to create/think these categories yourself.

@Eliaquim I know some plugin uses a wider category like message,
game event and utilities.

if the plugin help says its best between this and that plugin, that
the user need to follow the helpfile instruction, if not, than the category
is in place.

as most of @GamesOfShadows mention already spread my category more
in pieces, but if it has tages like "HUD" "GameMap" etc than it's
more a "GamePlay" category.

Armors, weapon, etc belongs to equipment (unless it says otherwise.

I dont mind how it set up, but the category list I give gives less compability
issues if you set them correctly than a mess and incorrect placement that
alot of plugins doesn't work.

you woul notice YEP plugins in the wrong order over and over, which I updated
the plugin of ALOE for the order check.

but idea's and suggestion can help if you have the base, the author itself
can choose a category, maybe another one "other" if not listed.

so "other" covers all other categories and for the user to place them
where it can work best.

Update: I found a better theme and also, by trying some stuff out, I broke the databases a bit. So yesterday I reset / discarded everything and started from scratch. I am now very satisfied with the result. It's now mobile & tablet friendly, everything works fine + I could give some creators / helper accsess to the database now. It was quit easy... just needed to play around with it.

The website and the list are still under construction, but it's online!
https://rpgmaker-dev.com/

I think I should make a new thread for this? If yes where could I open a new one? (for feedback, suggestions,...)

I find that the site goes to the essential and that's very good. Good job!

My suggestions for improvement would be to have an autocompletion of the search fields, or at least a list with the defined terms (especially the creators, and categories/tags), because finding an exact term when the list is well filled might be tedious.

And as for the idea of having a dedicated thread for this new plugin reference site, I would find that useful.

Unfortunately there is no autocompletion option, but I already have a list of existing creators and tags on my to-do list. The lists would be in an "accordion"-element so you can show or hide the lists.

At the moment I'm working on important stuff like privacy-policy, I almost forgot about that... :kaoswt2:

SRD anti stretch is for MV, if MZ also exist, you should do "yes" on both.
but the site looks really nice, didn't check the catecory type yet,
but only the compatible (mv yes/no) as for MZ.

but to make a small adjustment, open links in a new tab, rather than current.
easier to switch to continue the search.

but keep up the nice work :)

Anyone know of any good guides for editing the UI in RMMV?

Im free today . finally have some time to continue coding . yes!
Regret that I wasn't able to actually finish my igmc entry in time for the actual igmc. Will probably just offload it as a standalone thing.
