MAX, AN AUTISTIC JOURNEY, AVAILABLE NOW! Click here to visit our Steam Page!

19 AUGUST - GPAC

Welcome everyone to Max, an Autistic Journey on Steam! We are extremely excited to be launching today for two reasons. For one, we're launching on Steam! That in of itself is a pretty exciting thing. Secondly, we worked towards releasing on today specifically as it is Max's birthday! So, if you feel so inclined please wish him a happy birthday in the comments!

While we understand there is a wide spectrum of autism, this game focuses on Max, where he falls in that spectrum and how he experiences and deals with daily life. It is not intended to speak for all people diagnosed with an ASD.

Given the very personal nature and theme of the game please be respectful in the discussion forums. However, if you have comments about the gameplay, feel free to speak your mind! Logical well-spoken critism helps everyone develop and grow to make better games.

We wish you all a great day! If you pick up and are enjoying the game do share with your friends and family. All the support helps and is appreciated.

And last, but far from least, a big THANK YOU to all who joined in and supported 'Max' on Steam Greenlight. We wouldn't be here without you!

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Max, an Autistic Journey are going to the Miriam Foundation, a charitable organization that helps people with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities lead fulfilling lives. To learn more about the amazing work they do please check out their website at: http://www.miriamfoundation.ca/

Where it all started...

I'm not a dev at all... I'm just a dad and I made this game originally with RPG Maker VX Ace with my son Max, who's now eleven years old and was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of five.

It was a true labour of love and it helped me so much to at least get a glimpse into his vision of the world. That's my goal: to help raise awareness about ASD in a fun, interactive and educational game.

I sincerely want to thank the RPG Maker community for all your help and support over the last 16 months of development of this game.

Please visit my Greenlight page and vote Yes!

Also, if you're interested, below is the official press release with a lot more details and features, etc.

GPAC TO RELEASE MAX, AN AUTISTIC JOURNEY

AN IMAGINITIVE, ENTERTAINING & MOVING RETRO RPG

CORSICANA, TX. July 14, 2016 – GPAC, LLC proudly announces it will be publishing Max, an Autistic Journey, a retro style top-down turn-based RPG filled with mini games, monsters and most of all, heart. Developed by devoted father Stéphane Cantin, Max, an Autistic Journey will be released for Windows PC on Steam and other digital distribution platforms.

Max, an Autistic Journey is Stéphane’s inspired interactive love letter about his ten-year-old son Max who was born with autism. While there is a wide spectrum of autism, this game focuses on Max, where he falls in that spectrum and how he experiences and deals with the myriad of challenges he must overcome daily.

Max is my son. We worked together to create a game to raise awareness about autism by showing a typical day in his life, and the challenges "typical" things represent for him: getting dressed, going to school, dealing with noise and stimuli... Facing a bully... Max, an Autistic Journey is a labor of love and if I can help people better understand what ASD is, my job is done! We’re almost ready to launch, we just need YOU to take just a few moments to go vote the game up on Steam Greenlight. Help us help spread autism awareness and understanding.

-          Stéphane Cantin, Creator of Max

In Max, an Autistic Journey the player assumes the role of Max, an imaginative ten-year-old, that has been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Traversing Max’s home, school and wild imagination players will find ways to deal with the seemingly insurmountable challenges and frustrations of everyday life. Many players will discover a world familiar but alien to them. Some may relate to Max's story all too well. Regardless where you fall in the spectrum of life, Max, an Autistic Journey delivers an entertaining, imaginative and informative adventure where the visualization of the beasts may be fantasy, the emotions and frustrations they represent are very real for a lot of people.

Oh, my gosh. This looks absolutely wonderful! I... This makes me feel an onslaught of emotions personally. Simple because, I happen to have ASD, so this hit so many nerves as I read this topic and watched the video. I really hope this project goes well!

Indeed! :D

I'll see what I can do! I don't have an account on Steam, but maybe I'll make one, I've been thinking about it for a while actually.

It's no problem though. This is a really wonderful idea. I hope it brings more understanding about the subject. :)

EDIT: It appears as though to access some of Steam's features I will have to purchase something. ^.^""" It appears commenting and voting on the Greenlight is included. (?)

I just wanted to let you know, currently I have no money to spend, so perhaps next month. But I have followed the project and favorited it!

I do sincerely wish you luck though! :)

How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
