I'm SO happy I got that new Animations pack from RPG Maker Web! FINALLY, a proper bite animation! Mine looked terrible! :D I wish I knew how to post/make gifs so I could show comparisons.

10 Songs Written for AOF so far. Im going to keep making as many ideas as I can. Im enjoying writing music for this RPG more than I have writing any music for anything in a LONG time.

My Goal is to have 20+ songs and as much sound design as possible by the end of this month. and I'm confident I will succeed!

Happy May to all, I hope everyones work is going smoothly and that people are having fun working by themselves, or with others!

I'm really amazed at the amount of people who are still in school who still work hard to make their games. It's really inspiring to me, you guys rock. I barely made it through college alive, I can't imagine trying to do that and focusing on a creative endeavor at the same time.

It's halfway through the month! Still a lot of things to do. My goals were

-Programming the fight system in my game

-Outlining/writing Chapter 1 Quest trees for my game

-Sketching out the throne room map and listing the original tiles I'll need to make for the game

Everything is still deep in preproduction, but making the skeleton of things feels good. I've gotten about 50% of the fight system coded and figured out, the chapter one quest trees have all been brainstormed, and I've sketched out the throne room map and need to still take note of tiles. Baby steps.

Well, the map isn't exactly giant (50x90 tiles), but it's about the largest I want to do haha.  It's absolutely modified with shadows and highlights, but not to a huge extent like I've seen other maps since it's supposed to be seen in day and night.  And I'm not sure if Ace projects can be ported to mobile?  But it was never my intention so I'm not too worried about that.

But your comment did get me researching, and I found a lot of different ways I can reduce the file sizes without sacrificing quality, so that should help in improving performance.

    Thank you!

I have ambitions for this all right....... Even though its halfway through the month... I only have a small chunck left of my game before editind and side-quests and rebalancing and

betaing and ect so I would like to finsh the last 15% of main story content this month, HOWEVER, I seem to really only make significant progress on the weekends sooo, it might

be a difficult goal to mange... Eventually post a Project page because it is probably over 50% done even if we include all the sidequest content I have planned.

Finally able to return. Hand still hurts a little, and I have to go in small spurts by using an off hand or off finger (ever try to click a mouse with the little finger?), but it's better than nothing.

5.14 Update: Drew up two of the maps for Tall Oak, the underground zone, and the clearing. Now I need to map the forest and the inside of the buildings, and I can finally event Chapter 7. Also set up some areas to handle the changes to them coming after Chapter 7 is done, and added a big warning to the player that this is the point of no return, make an alternate save (as this chapter really changes things story wise).

Also returned to and tweaked part of the Pit area from Elmwood so that the skeleton town actually has skeletons running around. Still got more to add, but what I got is a start. In addition, added in 2 more side quests (one is a returning quest that was cut short term due to the redraw) for the early game, so next time I update the demo there will be a couple new quests now!

Welp, back to square one. Ditching the isometric plan because... it's just not going to work with RPGMV. I'm better off sticking to basic orthagonal tiles, or making that enormous leap to partial 3D.

Excuse me while I lie here and weep.

Couldn't you rework some of the props if they are in orthogonal view if you choose to go the top down route?

I completed Crystal's sprites, but now I have ants in pants about wanting to draw human battlers.

Month of may is really a celebration for me as I was able to finally finished my first complete MV mini game project thread for my game can be found here

Upon playing my game which I already did many times I was happy to find all the glitches and errors was so far corrected(hope no other players can found one again >.<) I once again made some character attributes/skills re balancing to better suit the new monsters and entirety of the game. The new version of the game will be in version 2.0 which can be found on my thread  cheers!.

@grem333: "Lots and lots of dialouge" a dating sim comes right away in my mind but as I can see that's not the case for your game right? keep it up.

@Marquise*: We are in the same boat but its good to see your posting your progress here.

@TheOriginalFive: Looking good was that lady face was just a sample as you stated that other artist draw her or its her you got another idea for her? I always have the fond of looking at those self made sprites.

@AceOfAces_Mod: its always good to see your updates here is the game already almost finished? as I can see you're onto polishing and ui tweaking.

@shushcat: we always learn something from this game project keep it up

@BlackRoseMii: Wow I find it amazing to be able for you to have time for other's project! regarding balancing what are those?

@taarna23:   bitbucket/git was that a good hosting site for the game?

@Little Adventurer: we all love rtp's

@Crispy-Ghee: You forgot to include people at work too its good to see you have an idea of fighting system on your own game that was cool.

@bgillisp: What happen to your hand? keep it up it seems you are working on a long game having reach chapter 7 was there more?

@ashikai: would love to see how the game come out with your 3d style projection.

@jaypee Do you mean what balancing is or what I still have to do? If you mean the latter, then it's giving the enemies proper stats, placing the items in the dungeons and setting up shops. I might have to tweak the prices as well, but I'll go to that later. For now, the enemies are the main task.

@jaypee No, not even close. It's a code repository and revision control system. It's a place to store code (in this case, things like the database and files for maps, excluding tileset images, would be fine) and when you make changes and add them to it, it retains old versions, in case you made some bad changes.

@jaypeeNo, there will be dating and marriage, but I'm just concentrating on non-marriageable villager dialogue for now, as they're easier. Congrats on finishing your first game!

@jaypee, Well, only the first part is ready. Most things (except the plot points, the dialogue and some specific maps are needed for the second part). Now, I'm doing some preparations for the game to be updated.

    Progress Report #7:

-Just one map waiting for NPCs and a few interior maps.

-Doing some balancing for the battles.

    -Add Lv.2 Drive Arts.

@ashikaiI've had to scrap parts of (and in one case almost all of) my game before, so know the feeling. It's never a good feeling is it?

@jaypeeOveruse more than anything. This happens about every May because of my job + game making. Take a week off the comp though and all is well, usually.

5.15 Update: Fixed up a bug at the casino in the game, and also implemented another side quest into the game...almost. Got tired right at the wrap up point so I need to go back tomorrow and finish the scene where you turn in the quest.

@jaypee Congrats on finishing your first minigame project! Getting things from start to finish is always hard work. And as for your comment, Well, everyone should be commended for making a game in their spare time, I just wanted to call out the people who have exams and final projects that they need to contend with in addition to following their creative endeavors this way. I work a 9-5 as a game artist with freelance on the side apart from working on my rpg, so I totally know what it's like having to work and then coming home and having to work some more. And people who have to deal with multiple jobs who work on this stuff are amazing too! I just think students hammering away at their future and still finding time to do this junk deserve some of their own recognition :) Especially since college and high school are their own stresses.

And yeah, I actually brainstormed more of the fighting system and we're working on tweaking what we have so far. Lots of nudging the code around and eventing, but frustration is half the fun. Spent some time trying to figure out how I'm going to balance everything with the fight system and I'm still chipping at that currently :S I wanted to translate character interaction in-game to affect in-battle stats and skills...today is going to be really honing in the fight system and then doing some character sheets on the side. Really hoping to get a lot of this tackled before the end of may.

I'm going to try and debug Etekate, as well as finishing my full-time game.

    Hopefully I'm not screwed debugging such a large event ;_;

More progress than I expected again. I'm now done with mission XIII. I'll release a new version after the proofreading, it will be better. I can start working on mission XIV a bit in the meantime, for example preparing new tilesets and sprites :)

    Progress Report #8:

    -Fixed more bugs.

    -Renovated a few more maps.

    Misc:

-I played a little with ChromiumFX (a port of the Chromium Embedded Framework, which is a compact version of Chrome. It doesn't run as efficient as the full version of Chrome (lack of hardware acceleration :( ), but it's pretty close (Around 10 FPS difference on the WebGL fish tank benchmark. I'll try to switch V8 with Chakra Core (Microsoft Edge's Javascript Engine), see if it makes any difference.

-I've cleaned up the laptop's fan (along with applying a new thermal paste). When I disassembled the fan, I got shocked! The exhaust of the fan was almost completely blocked by dust (in fact, the entire laptop was "showered" with dust). The dust that was accumulated was around 5 book pages thick. Took the hair dryer, set the heat to cold, blew the dryer's air to the fan,  re-assemble the fan, apply the new paste, re-assemble the laptop, done. Once I've done that, the laptop was running as if it was new (and running 25 dergees cooler (from 75oC to 50oC).
