MBS - Async Movies (1.0.2)
by Masked

Introduction

This plugin allows you to play movies as a asynchronous task, this way you can still control the game behavior via events.

How to use

Save the plugin in a .js file on your game's js/plugins folder, there's no need to write the exact script name thanks to this workaround.

Here's a sample usage for this script:

This will play the video and wait for it to end or the player to press the ok button, pretty useful for skippable cutscenes.

Further information on plugin help.

Either remove the "?view=..." part or follow the link in my signature.

@Radis3D No, but you might take a look at my Splash Video plugin:

@PTS 1. The script uses the same method as the 'Play Movie' event command, so it should support the same extensions (.webm and .mp4).

2. It's the filename, I just used the default "Play Movie" command.

Hi, tnx, but i have problem.

1. Put 111.mp4 file (duration 35 seconds) in Movie folder

2. Create event (button trigger) and add:

Comment: <AsyncVideo>
Play Movie: 111
Wait: 60 frames

3. Start test & execute event:

Does the file "111.webm" also exist? MV will pick the correct video depending on the environment, so to be safe you should try to put both formats in there.

Yes, you are right!

I added a .webm version, and plugin worked well. Tnx!

On the plus side, if all this rioting sparks another Covid outbreak... I will have a whole lot of time to work on my game. Not exactly how I wanted to get that time, but hey I'm a glass is half full... of RM kind of guy. :LZSwink:
A video once in a while won't hurt.
Have a craving for a Nesquik milkshake. No idea why. Haven't had one since I was a kid. lol. I remember them kinda tasting nice, but also leaving a lot of nasty powder at the bottom of the cup.
The more I think about it, the weirdest part of going to work post-virus will probably be getting used to seeing my coworkers' mouths again. :LZYshock:
I think one of my weirdest realizations is that my speed of game development would probably be about the same if I *didn't* work a full-time manual labor job.
