Ok guys, this is my FINAL ENTRY

The name is Lethe's Fate. The name of the controlled character is Lethe.

I wanted to try something of a psychological horror style. The little stoy has a somewhat disturbing theme, so... tread lightly.

I would suggest two things: search everything and there are 8 notes to find if you want to know what happened in the story.

Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/w7oqt0o32k32uc5/Lethe%27s%20Fate%20by%20Dimitris.exe?dl=0

CREDITS

Music Lethe's Fate Main Theme composed by me just for this contest

SFX Enterbrain : RpgMakerVxAce RTP

Graphics Enterbrain : RpgMakerVxAce RTP (I only used whatever VXAce has by itself, no dlcs, no ReStaff, no scripts)

Scripts None

I had so much fun making this and it turned out something I am proud for. It took me 4 days to make the maps, the music and the story! To anyone who plays it, thank you  :D  Tell me what you think!

Good luck to everyone!!!! (Now I have time to play the other entries!!!! I'll comment soon!)
I had trouble finding the last piece of the notes, but it was worth trying.

I really love your story and the ambiance is perfect.

Maybe, since story is not taken into account, it won't win the contest but it's so far the best little game of all the others I tried.

^That's what I thought. Even if it doesn't win the mapping, it's still a pretty well-told story.

Make sure to check trees, logs, holes, and so on. Some notes are hidden inside stuff. Getting to the revelation bit is well worth it.

Just checked out a few others. I noticed quite a number of entries used DS futuristic stuff.

Hotfirelegend & Dreadshadow: Pretty grim that one. Poor bloke. I like the mapping in all 3 mini-maps. It's put together very nicely, and the ambient track fits it well.

Deathswallow: Cool entry! The music is perfect and works really well. This is like the complete opposite mood of HFL's and Dreadshadow's entry. Good job I played them in this order too. I think that main chamber map looks fantastic. Must've taken you ages to do it.

J0pac: I like how you've done that mall. It looks quite stunning (if a little busy in some places). I quite liked finding the party members around the place, taking a break from all the fighting. Only noticed one passability. There's a crowd of people staring at the car (the ones on your screenshot). You can walk right through them on the right-hand side.

Might try out a few other entries later if I have some time.

The secure room has nothing inside and it is not unlockable.

It is just there because of "the law" (making the situation fit in a potential real futuristic world, while talking about that laws lose every meaning if you are about to die in a few let's say minutes). The other room has a computer display to check out though, that makes things even more dramatic. :p

Dimitri, you are correct. I like drone a lot. Too bad there are not many bands out there. Dark ambience too. It's a part of what I make after all ;)

I'm getting a continual problem with Mega.  I get this error message.

Your browser storage for MEGA is full. Your download will continue automatically after you free up some space.

Your download is 5MB and I've got nearly 600GB free on my hard drive.  Do I need to have a Mega account or something?

@everyone else

I'm slowly working my way through all these - it's the downloading that takes the time.  I'm impressed by the overall quality so far.  This event has certainly brought out the many gifts of the contributors.

Why thank you ^_^ ! Oh, but believe me, that main chamber and the teleporter room before that, underneath the skin, in the editor....is a convoluted mess, lol. I had thought about making it a parallax map (and i guess it "sort of" is) but i didint want to use scripts. And as for scene transition, as mentioned in my credits, Shaz really help me out! If she didint tell me how i could start the game with a completely black screen, i would have technically had four maps, and i wouldn't have been able to participate :< .... So im really grateful to her :D .

EDIT: Loved yours too! Especially the title scene! And the music fit well!!(i did notice that at the end, it didint end the game or return to the title though. Your just left to rome around in the dark or press the activate button again to reread the characters dialogue, and credits. Was that supposed to be like that?)
I didn't have this issue. It was meant to fade completely to black. I wonder if something went wrong somewhere?

" Was that supposed to be like that?"\

No that wasn't probably playtested...

The game ends there as the character dies in agony.
It was playtested lol, I didn't have the issue described above.

Use the dropbox link instead. It's probably looking at your cache'd files for MEGA or something, I'm not sure. Check your "downloads" tab on your browser and make sure it's not bogged  up with mega files?

@Hotfirelegend:

The game fades to black, along with the BGM, but we can still control the main character.

I pressed Action and the same text (do you want to read the credit?) appeared. I didn't try to move to activate other parts since it's pitch black, but I think I didn't lost control of movement.

Oh, it does fade all the way to black. Your just able to still move around after the textbox saying "the end". I can even navigate back to the room before that. Maybe its just with me :-/ . But i dont think its really all that big of a deal, its still really good :D .

@ Cabfe- EDIT: Oh, i stand corrected.

@SharicX Snow of the Mountains I love winter maps because I love winter!  A beautifull map and the music is very nice. The only problem I found is with your tileset

transitions, for example, when I touched the grass I could move to parts of the map that I shouldn't.

@esbie Homeward Interesting map here, nice tileset, together with the beautifull music by Scythuz create a feeling of longing, of wanting to return home.

@TheoAllen Vallis Odium Love your music, very nice composition! Your map could use more levels, it feels a little bit flat.

@Matseb2611 Falcon's Climb I love how the hero said just two lines and immediately I knew what was happening! Great atmosphere. The perspective of your map is what I like to see in games, it makes the world seem real. Very nice tileset and amazing music again by Scythuz.
Thank you for letting me know! :)

I fixed it now.

So, to whoever is judging, please remember to download my entry as of now, so that you have the latest version.

Yes it is a minor bug indeed in the end. But that will not change anything in the judge process anyway.

After the competition, we will fix it and release it again. ;)

It's no big deal really. Right?

Yeah, i really wouldent think it would matter. I mean, you showed the credits, and you made it pretty clear thats where your entry ended, all they have to do is x out at that point.

Today's the 26th, and I feel like we've delivered the spoop.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2yrsl1y18mr6m74/Test%20it%20All.exe?dl=0

The entry is called: Strange House, Weird People, Good Party.
As you can see, Goldstorm and I are master procrastinators. We have been wanting to get better at mapping and this was a fun opportunity to take an afternoon (and a night, and a 3AM) to try some things we had never done before such as tile clumping, lighting, and new events of course. Wish I could have done some recolors too, but I wanted to go to bed. XD

Ultimately we want to learn to parallax (because I am a control freak) and I'm feeling pretty good about trying it now.

In addition to Goldstorm's post I made a Youtube video for the lazy.

Also, the music featured in our entry was composed by me and re-pitched and edited in many ways. The song is titled "Strange House, Weird People, Good Party." I will be placing it in my resource thread (that I totally haven't published yet but will go live soon) and it will be available there to anyone interested.

Edit: My resource thread is now live to anyone interested in the song!

The video was a fantastic idea.

Also your mapping was really great. I mean.. even the lights were correctly made.

I will PM you about sth I noticed though. ;)

@ms littlefish and @goldstorm Guys, beautifull map, love the lightning and that mysterious atmosphere it creates together with the music. Also, the music has that playful feel that makes the whole experiece pretty lighthearted and nice. Good job!

I'm so glad I'm not judging this event, I would find it next to impossible.  There are so many great entries; I'm really impressed with people's creativity.

Yeah, that's a disadvantage of no title screen I suppose, though. No "quit game" option.
