I'm wondering you guys and girls have some suggestions for the menu sounds. Something less high pitch and smoother to the ears. I actually posted short little video and the first 2 comments were just about the pitch sounds.

Refresher if you don't remember it :)

There are a few websites out there that have free sounds to download.  Could try checking out https://freesound.org and do a search for menu sounds.  Some sites have paid sounds that are cheap, so if you don't mind shelling out a few bucks for quality sounds, that could also be an option.

You could try lowering the pitch and/or the volume in the editor, so that it isn't so shrill.

What I'm using for my project's menu sounds:

Cursor: Cursor2 at max pitch.

OK: Decision1 at max pitch, sounds less obnoxious that way.

Cancel: Cancel1 at normal. Sounds fine to me, no need to change it.

Another place you could try is freesfx.co.uk - all sound effects are free.

Also don't be afraid to use a sound with a completely different feel to it - it doesn't have to be a 'cursor' sound.

Almost the first thing I did on my very first game was to junk the default SEs for choose, cancel etc.  I am amazed when I play games/demos where obviously a lot of love and effort have gone into every aspect - except the sound effects, which are the usual.  Such a shame.

Thanks guys and girls. I went ahead and tried replacing the sounds. I'm quite happy with the 2 but I will need to find something a little more softer when going up and down in the menu's.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
