    Although I'm very slow at working on projects, I decided to post this for possible overall support and encouragement.

    Synopsis

    Two years ago a clan of Nyulkith was attacked by a mysterious man donning a strange costume. The Heart Tree was destroyed, the Anther was killed, the women murdered, and the young girls vanished. Only a few escaped: Sylphia and her seedkin, Rhys.

    Beyond their forest home of Mystwood, they are ignorant of the world. Complete outsiders based on appearance alone, Sylphia and Rhys struggle to fit in society. The only place to accept them is a mercenary's guild, first as simple errand runners, then as full-fledged members.

    The story begins when Sylphia and Rhys obtain their first mission: to find missing children near Mystwood.

    Characters

    There are a few more than what you see here - but until I get to them in development, they won't be posted yet.

    Sylphia

    [IMG]

    Age: 17 || Race: Nyulkith

    The heroine of the story. She is on the path of becoming a warrior, determined to find the man who wrecked her home.

    Rhys

    [IMG]

    Age: 17 || Race: Nyulkith

    Sylphia's seedkin; they were born from the same seed - a rare occurrence in Nyulkith. He chooses to master the healing arts to aid his sister's stubborn attitude.

    Zahki Storms

    [IMG]

    Age: 23 || Race: Half-Human

    Forced to go with Sylphia and Rhys by his father, the Guildmaster. He wields a greataxe in combat, and doesn't show mercy to anyone.

    Gameplay

    Most of these are just ideas I would like to implement.

    Battle System

    • Tactical or Sideview with strategic row + turn order
    • Racial abilities + Classes with 2 branching paths/skill-types

    Progression

    • Guild missions - perhaps after achieving certain ranks
    • World map use

    Content

    • Side quests, posted on a guild board - each grants reputation/rank points
    • Each monster part/ingredient sold to a trading company helps level up shops in the area for more items
    • Hunting marks

    Current Progress

    Here are some stuff I'm working on.

    [IMG]

    The forest's entrance.

    [IMG]

    Deeper into the forest - it's supposed to look like it's dying now...

    Wanna Help?

    If you like this idea and want to see it done faster, I always accept aid and friendship. The only physical help that would be useful is maps and a battle master (someone who'll come up with abilities and equipment, while balancing things for me).

    THANK YOU!

    Sounds like you got the background well planned out; it has a nice quick but detailed description at the top. The art is very inviting and I wanted to see more.

    I like the variety of trees in the forest entrance but personally feel the map seems a little too constructed if that makes sense, because its basically a straight shot through. Idk unless someone was clearing out trees in the area it seems like there would be some more turns and what not.

    I like in the second map we get to see the forest dying, adds a nice twist and a sudden sense of dread. Maybe consider filling it out more with some rocks and stones, depressions in the ground in the dead areas. You also seemed to have missed mapping part of the larger dead tree in the upper right of the map.

    Good luck on the project, will be observing the thread.

    I agree with Vampire Vox. The maps look good, just need a little bit more details to make them seem "fuller".

    Maps are like a really hungry person. The more types of food (tiles) they eat, the better.

    I character artwork is unique and sets the game up for something like a fairy tale.

    Thanks for the luck! I'm having trouble conveying a dying forest in my maps, so I might find a way to just... not really map full areas. :D

    Right now I'm writing the story (for NaNoWriMo!), so I suppose something is getting done.

    I'm actually seriously considering making this into a visual novel with a guild mechanic/simulation thingy and tactical battles when needed. If that makes any sense?

    I wish I could explain what I mean by "guild mechanic/simulation thingy", except for comparing it to other games. ;_;

    Like in Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker and Phantom Pain you have the Mother Base and all those units you can assign to various places. Some can be sent on missions as well. In Grand Kingdom (Vita / PS4) you can have up to 6 teams of 4 units, which you dispatch on quests or to war.

    The idea is that main missions would allow you to pick your team and do all the battles tactical style. The side missions, especially if trivial, could allow you to send out teams (aka your other party members) to do them. Success depends on team combination and other things, etc.

    Just something I'm thinking about of course.

    It's been awhile!

    I've decided to go back to using the Time Fantasy packs. In doing so, using inspiration from the scrapped facesets @Des had planned to create, I began my own facesets. I will also be making my own sprites. Which is difficult in the style, so it's not perfect!

    Both artstyles are really adorbs >w< I like the pencilly art style best! (But the time fantasy one is very fitting imo.) I'd love to know a little bit more about the lore and such too, since it was only briefly mentioned in your story synopsis.

    It looks like there's a lot to work on but you're really excited for it, so, so am I! :kaopride:Best of luck with your game devving! I'll be--wait for it--ROOTing for ya XD

    Oh my goodness, that TF style looks amazing, especially with your unique character designs. I'm really quite interested in seeing how this progresses. The story is intriguing and I enjoy the change from the norm by having the sister be the headstrong one and the brother be the healer.

    They're not perfect, but I tried.

    I'm now mapping parts of the main city - which is friggin hard. Hopefully the housing update @Des plans will help!
