I will be working on this one today and releasing the script for people to give feedback on.

Only hurdle right now is figuring out when people want the mini map on and making sure it doesn't crash if they don't have the image.

You should add a plugin command that enable/disable the minimap. Or use the note box to specify the maps with minimap on.

Hello;

We need a mini-map.  Also, could you have it track explored and unexplored areas?  Darken or cloud out the unexplored regions?

thanks.

I am working on tracking unexplored areas. Seems to be extensive work could be required but I think I am going to make it grid based.
For example what you see on the map will be a square the represents your screen view. So if you have seen it before then it will show up on mini map.
Instead of using a grid you could have a cloudy area instead, would make it look less blocky.

Edit: Please see updated video and let me know.

Nice Work dude.

Hmm with the Icons you can set it via Events notetag.

Like:

<Minimapicon: 165>

And the Icon set it automatic to the X - Y Position on the Minimap.

It's very nice what you did so far, but can we disable the icon movement on the minimap ?

Iam also supporting this Plugin.

Because this enchance the rpg games soo much.

(Sorry for my bad Englisch :( )

I think you should add a "wold map version" with that plugin, when people will press M, they will see the map.

You can also add a "fog of war" so player will be encouraged to explore the dark areas to reveal the map.

I will also suggest you to use a "round/circle" minimap, Rpg maker first flaw is that everything is square.

Good luck.

I will look into the circle thing, that is a good idea. I had the fog of war working but it lagged too much. So I need to find a better way to do it.
Currently I am trying to get the user to be able to enter in their own icons and x and y. IT is a challenge because the game draws the minimap before it read the plugins on the map.

I have posted the script for people to try out.

I like this idea. Looks pretty nice so far. Will go good with dark dungeon maps. Looking forward to trying it out.

I quickly tested it out, to see. Here are a few points you should improve :

- The script is asking for img/pictures/Arrow.png. You should try to use the windowskin instead as a replacement if the file does not exist.

- The fact that we need a picture of the map is rather annoying, and can quickly increase the size of the project if we have many large maps. Try to reproduce the behaviour of SpritesetMap to create yourself a small picture of the map, hence avoiding that need of an external picture (moreover it is not that easy to get a 1:1 picture, having it done through your script would be safer). It would also avoid the issue of a missing map file.

I don't know if it is because of the size of my map, but the cursor was somehow slightly misplaced. I'll try again later to see what happened exactly. But if you could do what I proposed, it would be better ^^

Keep up the good work :)

I have updated the post with more resources. There has been quite a few hurdles with this script.
Specifically with adding bitmaps to a pre-existing constructor. It just was way above me. So this make the user just create the icons and just update the icon visibility. Does the same thing really. Making pictures and sprites appear on screen is foreign to me so I am happy I got this much working. I am looking into ways to auto-generate a decent png in game but idk, I just compress my pngs and it doesn't take up that much space and I will be using this on PC-Only.

I tested your Plugin.

First of all, thank you very much for your amazing job and for your time, to make this possible.

I have some points to change:

- It's really nice what you did with the key trigger for zoom in/out and Transperence. But can you do this with small buttons on the Map, so we can click with the mouse ?

Or just make an option, which control we want to use. (Tastatur or Mouse)

- The Map shouldn't scroll in the Border Box, i would change this with the arrow.

- You need to put in a Maximal Zoom for in/out. Because if you zoom out, the full map don't fit with the Border ^^'

- Also, maybe you can make a Border Picture, that shows over the map. Because the Map.png file, is over the Systembox.

Thats all for now i can say, but you do an amazing Job. Keep it forward !

I guess it doesn't matter since you can zoom in and out.

I noticed after I played around with it a bit :D

I guess I was just a bit confused about this :

The empty space I mean. Is there a way to stop it from scrolling like this?

Like that the map stops scrolling when you have reached one end of the map?

But all in all this is a great Plugin, so thank you :)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
