Missing resources?

So I'm quite new, recently i tried a demo version of RPG maker VX where there was a lot of default resources to play around with so you could for an example build a house! as seen in the attached image. Now that I finally decided to buy RPG maker VX Ace, since i heard that was a better version but to my surprise it does not really have any resouces at all, only like water, dirt and small buildings/cities. How do i get these building resources back so i can build a house or am i missing something?

yes, you're missing that one of the many advantages of Ace above VX is that you aren't limited to a single tileset any more but can give each map a different tileset - you're currently looking at the world map tileset, the first of four different default tilesets.


I suggest you follow the link to the "starting point" in my signature and work through the tutorials listed there, they will get you to the basics of Ace and MV as fast as possible.

wrong - A and B (and so on) are not tilesets, they're tilesheets. Each tileset consists of its own ABCDE sheets set in the database.


VX had only one tileset (total) with ABCDE and those couldn't be changed.


The four default tilesets are World, Exterior, Interior and Dungeon.

Ahh I see! I just checked the database is it normal that most of the skills and so on are written in japanese(I believe it is)?

Ahh yes, I see now. I've made a new project and it's all in english now! It was because it had opened one of my older projects from the trail version. Sorry for the trouble
