Missing things [Not Resources!]

Was thinking it would be a good idea to port a little project of mine from Ace to MV just to see if much has changed.
So while eventing some troops for a more cinematic feel of the battle I found out that an option to select "Entire troop" in "Show Battle Animation" event was missing, that is, I could only display the animation on a specific enemy and NOT on the entire screen:

So this is a rather big thing not be there (for me, at least), as having to play animation directly on the enemy will not be possible if the enemy is already defeated. It is very strange to have something like this removed, is there any specific reason it is missing? Hopefully it will be fixed. ;_;

Another major thing is incredible lag while having 8 enemies on screen. Now, at the moment I'm not running MV on some powerhouse computer, but I recreated the exact battle as I previously made (front view and everything) it in Ace and in there it runs flawlessly without any lag whatsoever. For example: during the battle Wait function in between two messages lasts at least twice as long in MV than Ace (I'm aware that many are experiencing lag so I'm guessing it's being looked in to).

Although a very minor thing, just thought I should mention: during the battle, the message box with actor's data will also constantly show up again, and again in between the messages shown from within the troop events, which was something that was not happening in the ace (this however might me done on purpose, still it is bothersome and unnecessary).

Anyways, thanks to RPGMaker team for all their hard work, and hopefully they will add the missing function mentioned above and fix the lag. Other than that I'm more or less satisfied with my purchase. ;)

Can you elaborate on your third issue? What message box with actor's data? Do you mean the hud that shows their stats? Are you using sideview or front view? Do you have any plugins installed yet?


I've logged the 'entire troop' problem as a bug and requested a fix.

Hi Shaz,

I was using only Yanfly's Core system plug-in, but the problem persisted even when the plug-in was turned-off/removed. I'm using the front-view battle system, though I should mention: just now, as I tried to switch to the side-view battle to test out if the problem persists, I found out that when I check the side-view box, all the custom graphics for my battlers disappear (within' the editor as well); playtesting the battle will pop-out the following error:

This only happens with custom graphics (the battlers I imported from Ace) and not with the ones that came pre-packaged with MV. Unchecking the side-view box resolves the problem immediately, and the battler graphics are immediately displayed again both within' the editor and the game.

Anyways, back to the problem on hand:
Yes, I meant the character HUD when I talked about the "interrupting" messages. Basically, what happens is: I run the page of a troop event, displaying messages, showing battle animations...etc. During this time, in Ace, the character HUD is completely hidden, and only shown when the event I ran is finished processing. In MV the character HUD is shown constantly during the event execution, disappearing when I display a message box, only to pop-up once again after the sad box is gone. This can be very distracting for a Player; here's an example (WARNING - lot's of images ahead):

It is a minor problem, but still distracting to the player.

SV enemies are stored in a separate directory from FV enemies, so there's your missing resource issue. They're not in the SV directory.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
