Hi all

I'm a complete newbie with editing tilesets, so I'm looking for any tips people may have please! :)

I want to mix MZ modern RTP with FSM deserts pack, specifically I want to have modern buildings in the desert and mixed with desert villages for a post-apocalyptic game I’m working on. What would be the best way of going about this?

Also, I’m keen to make a ‘night’ title set of the MZ RTP in the same way FSM have day and night. I take it I would need to adjust the tint in an image editor?

I would be using GIMP for the above if that also helps answer the question.

Thanks for nay help and thoughts!

REFMAP (the group that makes the FSM tilesets) actually wrote a blog post describing the exact method they use to make their night tiles. Unfortunately, it's in Japanese, but maybe you can manage to translate it decently enough to understand the process.

it really depends on how to mix it.

can be serveral ways, with parts, overlays, blends, opacity, a mix etc.
it depends on the title or object you want to mix.

I'm pretty good at it as I do it for my own and come out nicely.
you need to work with backups and layers, color change where needed.

as I dont use GIMP, it should work the same as PS or Krita though.

Thank you, that's a great find and I should be able to get the basics translated easy enough!

Thanks for the keyword pointers, I'll look into those and have a play around.

Also, I've been thinking of giving PS a go as it seems to highly recommended

A secret desire of mine: I want to make a horror game based on Celtic mythology. I've seen plenty of Greek, Japanese and Norse mythology-based horror games, but I don't think I've ever seen a Celtic-based horror game anywhere...
