If WoW didn't need a subscription, I'd play it for sure... It simply looks far more awesome than other MMOs
If you've never played WoW before then yeah it is fun. But once you're on your third or fourth character doing the same thing over and over to the point where the only reason you log on at all is because it's time to raid then it starts losing its touch. I played WoW since the beta and like others I started to ween myself off of World of Warcrack starting at Wrath of the Lich King. Back when I still played it the only reason why I ever got on really was to raid because there's literally nothing else to do. Yeah there is PvP but once you run into an immortal Death Knight or any other class that can heal themselves to full in the time it takes your character to do one attack that gets old too. I would say working the auction house but that's not really content. I wish they would try and innovate in the end-game department.

As for me my first MMO was EverQuest. The first one.

Ragnarok Online though probably has to be my favorite all around though. Although I have fond memories of all the MMOs I've played, like literally getting lost in the Bazaar in EQ1, or finally being able to buy mounts in EQ2 with my brother, cousin, friend and I having pooled all of our money together just to laugh hysterically when my friend thought that even though he was a Dwarf that his horse would be the same size as ours, only to find out he is riding a little pony. The sound of disappointment and shame in his voice was hilarious.

Ragnarok Online though takes my top spot, if for no other reason, than it's community. Never before nor since have I met a community in an MMO that will power level you and give you enough gear to handle yourself once you've hit the high levels all because it was something for them to do and because everyone enjoyed seeing a newbie because they all remembered what it was like to start out in a game that told you absolutely nothing about what you're supposed to do or where to do it. And I have never before Ragnarok nor since Ragnarok grabbed a wad of cash and told a company "Shut up and take my money!" just so I could sit in Payon all day and talk to friends/guildmates.

Does PSO2 (Phantasy Star Online 2) count as an MMO? I just picked that game back up, it's most it's certainly a top favorite game for me.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine. It's a very good game even if you're not fans of the SMT series.
I used to play these two games. I couldn't stay on because it was both only in Japanese. (But, for a second, I thought Imagine was in English because of Aeria? After looking it up, not anymore haha...)

yeah, it's the kind of MMO that you would play even just for the sake of being "in-game"... Even during the times that it had only P2P, all the money I've spent was worth it.

Vindictus ( oh god, that battle system was divine. Every MMORPG should have that battle system.
How come it was? Did I miss something? It is still divine!

That one needs skill! At least if you don't have the money to buy all those uber-gears. :D

Only one Vindictus player here? Me sad! *-*

I can't wait to get my new laptop, so I can get back to that game!

I was thinking about it, but people kept complaining how bland and generic it was in MMO quality. So I avoided it.

Another company did the game I think. They basically took a basic 3D MMO with linear quests, and just named all the classes and lore off Ragnarok and tried to pass itself off as a sequel to Ragnarok Online when it really failed living up to the legacy.

Now Tree of Savior, there's a spiritual successor right there.

I played it and loved it..

until the part where going on missions was the only way to battle..

i probably spent half my life on those loading screens haha jk jk

no but seriously vindictus was awesome it just needed to have that open world feel

but anyhow

My very first mmo would have to be Runescape.. waaay waay back then

when it used to be about come at me bro and not fancy leaning towards wow graphics xD

when you steped in the wild and got jumped by a group of 5 which then 3 of them turned against the other 2 and it was still fun! xD

after that i got hooked on this game called Silkroad Online

that was my first HD MMO and i miss it up to this point

the skills were amazing

the bosses where epic

the gear looked so nice and there were no broken classes because you made your own

you picked a weapon  and choosed 1,2,3 or even 4 elemental attributed from fire/ice/lightning or healing

you could change weaps at any time with out having to make a new character like so many games have it now a days

but just like most games they killed it and not to mention it got infested by bots xD

then there was Archlord another awesome game

then i remember playing talisman online for a while it was prety cool

then i played rappelz up until they had more pets to choose from than weapons and all that mattered in a fight was how strong your pet was

which made pet classes a little op giving their pets 200+% dmg adn armors and heals and gg wp xD

the most recent game i played was archeage

now that game was awesome!

you could claim land and build a nice little house

or build a boat and have naval fights and be a pirate

or jump off a mountain on your glider

even dive down into the ocean while wearing an oxygen tank to be able to breath

the skills were nice

the graphics were neat

the quests prety much got you to max lvl

the company that ownd it kinda sucked though

it lost a lot of its players where it was the same people talking in chat over and over

you got to prety much know everyone on whatever server you played on xD

good time..

adn i dont think minecraft counts right? xD

I never played Ragnoarok, and from what I've heard It's a bit too late. but Tree of Savior looks fun. I'm crossing my fingers for a western release fairly soon.

I have tried a TON of them in my older days. Runescape, MapleStory, Flyff, Cabal Online, Perfect World, Knight Online, LaTale, Shin Megumi Tensei, GhostX, ... ...OMG so many more. God, so many memories... thank you for reminding me! :)

The ones I stuck with (that I still have installed on my computer but never play) are MapleStory, Vindictus, and I just installed "Neverwinter" since it was free but so far I am not impressed.

The only one I do still play is Vindictus once in a while.

The only mmorpg I'm playing at the moment is "Blade Chronicle". A Japanese samurai rpg. It helped teach me some Japanese, and has decent combat and quests.

I used to play 2d style mmo's, conqueronline, legend of mir, myth of sora. I also played runes of magic.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
