I started playing them back I think when Runescape first started, I think I was like in elementary school. I tried to play it again a couple years back and I'm not sure why I played it back then...

I've probably tried playing more MMO's then I should comfortably admit....

I played DCUO till I got tired of grinding away at raids with little real reward. I get tempted to re-download it from time to time though.

I played Grandchase for a long while but the emphasis on PvP (Solely to over encourage buying of Cash items) as well as the over abuse of the Gatcha system ended that.

I moved over to Elsword and I kinda play that off and on still.

I really liked Cosmic Break too but similar problems to Grandchase slowly pushed me away from it.

I'm actually really antisocial in MMO's though so I don't really meet anyone while playing or have any stories to tell... which kinda defeats their purpose I guess...

If only people made more standard single player games like GC or CB... I'd totally be addicted to a single player version of them for my Vita if they only existed...

I hated GC too because of the immense emphasis on using cash items... seriously, gold items are too costly and doesn't do much good...

My top 10:

Seal Online (It was pretty fun when I used to play it years ago, but I went back to it last year..and it was next to dead; hardly anyone playing it.)

LoTRO (Lord of the Rings as an mmo = genius)

Lunia (Another fun one that I used to go on years back..sadly there's been like nothing happening to it since early 2011. >,>)

Ghost X (I fricking "hate" the company that got this. It's pretty fun, but the service is non-existent, and they hardly ever put anything new in other than maint. and CS outfits. Shame, since it's much better handled in Korea (like most other mmos..)

Aion (I love this, though it can get pretty difficult early on for unexperienced players. Also, angelic sky combat? <3)

Prius (Not Arcane Saga..no, Prius had so damn much more than its ill-fated successor. Triple in one player system; Anima, player, and Gigas(<3), catchable permanent mounts, a fairly easy skill system, and much more.)

Grand Chase (Honestly, I prefer this over Elsword..more characters, and easy to abuse bosses(not the later ones like in the 70-80+ areas..most of the time) though they can take a horrendous amount of time if soloing. PvP's..well full of people who do nothing but throw you repeatedly.)

Rift (This one imho is how to properly make a f2p transition. It "can" definitely be difficult even at low levels, but given the skill tree customization, it's fun to abuse PvE most of the time. PvP's awesome too, like the only mmo where I've actually enjoyed it; I'm usually anti-PvP, but not in this one and I main as a Bard/Support! o-o)

Fiesta (Love/hate relationship, but mostly from technical issues, Archer/Trickster cruelty, and Outspark. Good game nonetheless, but good luck reaching level 90+ since the amount of grinding is just...torture.)

Maplestory (Do I really to explain this one? People either love it, or hate it, but it was the first mmo I ever tried..so..yeah it's got good and bad points, but still a great mmo even if it's a grindfest.)

I used to love MMOs, but now that I have gotten older and I am about to start my life in the military I wont have time to play them anymore. I enjoyed having other players around in a online universe, but it takes so much time out of your life to play one. If you want to raid in WoW, you are looking at 3 hours at least of raiding and crafting in most games means you have to go out on hunt down loads of materials to craft one piece of armor before the next patch comes out and makes that piece of armor obsolete. I have no problems with MMOs at all as long as a company puts in good effort into making one.

I've started playing Warframe more recently. I rather enjoy it. it gets a bit repetitive but it's enjoyable overall and the cash system is there for convenience more then anything else.

The two MMORPGs I got the most into were "9Dragons" and "Mabinogi:Fantasy Life".

Don't have time to play either anymore, even if I could still find an English version of 9Dragons at all. as far as I know the English host for it closed down a couple years back.

(CENSORED) MMORPGs.  (CENSORED) them rough and hard with a huge, (CENSORED)ing (CENSORED) (CENSORED).

Seriously, MMOs are the reality TV of video games.

They're the Fifty Shades of (CENSORED) Grey of video games.

Supplication to the lowest common denominator.

I played a few mmo, Runescape (not anymore), Adventure quest worlds (got bored), wizard101 (bored), Pirate101, (bored), Eden Eternal, (bored), Mabinogi, (forgot the character password), some browser games mmo (bored), Mincraft, (bored at playing solo), League of legends (might pop in once in a while), Airmech (bored)....I dont seem to stick to one and stay more than a month. Now I am not sure if I want to play mmorpg anymore, Maybe I could try some different types of games. Any suggestions?

Played FFXI for years, gave me some of my best times growing up even though it was all with people across the world whose faces I had never seen. That game just had a special ability to build a much better community than most MMOs ever have (and as much as people complain about the forced party mechanics, I think that's a very big part of why the community was so good - you had to rely on each other, so there wasn't much room for being a jerk and expecting to get anywhere - it still happened, but it happened way less than in most other games).
Final Fantasy 11 was something special, especially in its early years.  It actually delivered a multi-player experience like one would expect if you were suddenly thrown into a fantasy world filled with monsters and other players.

Now was it brutal and unforgiving?   Absolutely.  And I loved it for it.  You grouped up on that game because you wanted to survive.  It wasn't a matter of convenience.  And nothing brings out the best (and the worst) in humanity than that.  Even when it is simulated on a video game it would appear.

Things weren't always smooth.  I made some enemies and it's a very good thing there was a monitor separating us else I would probably be in jail right now.  But like you say, I also made a lot of friends... including my best one who I later even ended up moving in with.  And I know people who have gotten married due to bonds they forged on that game.

So I agree with most of what you say.  That game felt like you really were in it together.  And that creates an experience you just can't get on these modern MMORPGs that rely so heavily on convenience and flashy gimmicks to keep players coming back for more.  It's just a real shame most players are unwilling to deal with the bad and the ugly parts of games like this (and to be clear, there are definitely bad and ugly parts)... because the good parts made it all worth it to me.

Played WOW for a year when Cataclysm came out then took a year off. Then I played Mists of Pandaria for a year and am currently not playing. The game is just endless grinding and I'm getting tired of any game that has that element. If I play the new expansion I'll probably wait for it to be out for about a year or so.

I got the WoW itch again the other day. Bought 30 days of pandaland (which I hadn't touched before), played for two hours and was completely and utterly fed up. What a dated game this has become now. And not just in terms of visuals – that doesn't bother me too much – but in gameplay. It's mind numbingly boring and unimaginative to play this game. I'm glad the itch got scratched this fast, but I regret spending money on it; now I just want to renew my FFXIV subscription instead...

They are updating all character models and they look pretty good. Not sure if they are going to do this for all npc's and enemies as well but what I've seen so far looks pretty good. MOP was fun for a little while and then like always it becomes endless repetition. I've yet to join a guild that was worth a damn, basically they all have an uber nerd GM that wants the guild in order to accomplish all he/she wants to do in the game while completely ignoring what anyone else wants.

There are a few new features coming up in the next expansion but I'm not sure it will be enough to draw me back. One of the reasons I went back to WOW when MOP was brand new was you got a free copy of Diablo III with a player pass for x number of months. Too bad Diablo III sucked, otherwise it might have been a good deal.

When it comes to visuals, WoW's artstyle is what carries it, as it's still pretty great. But when it comes to what you get for your computer specs it's absolutely poor. I mean, I play FFXIV at high settings and 1080p and constant 60fps, but if I turn shadows on high in WoW I go sub 30. And while I'm really not that reliant on visuals for me to enjoy a game, the areas in WoW just look way too boring compared to games like GW2 or FFXIV. Those games are just much more fun to explore.

Gameplay wise, WoW is 100% grind. There is nothing else to it. I know it's an mmo staple, but in WoW it just feels grindy all the time. I mean, my very first quest as a pandaren monk was to destroy ten training dummies with my basic attack... It's mind-numbingly tedious, and instantly reminds me why I left the game.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
