So, I've got this concept I kicked around last night, wanted to get a little feedback on the imagined mechanics of this game.

The idea is this, social order has broken down, services stop, chaos rules.

You're a young protagonist, tasked with protecting your loved ones, friends and territory. You have to repel rival gangs,

collect food and other resources, and equip your gang with the weapons and armor they need to give them the edge.

Combat would play out in a Tactics based scene, with an overworld city map that shows areas of influence and controlled blocks,

color-coded to each gang.

In general, a survival/tactics/RPG/RTS.

No zombies, or magic, just guns, gangs and gameplay.

I may even break down and try this project out for IGMC this year, since it's starting in like 30 minutes or something.

This game would not have too much story or narrative past the initial setup and tutorial.

Let me know what you think.

While it doesn't sound like my type of atmosphere, I think the suggested mechanics sound just fine.  I'd recommend setting up some basic diplomacy features that you can use to work (at arm's length) with other gangs - safe passage through territory, trade of resources, etc.  Perhaps even let gangs betray each other on the deals they made and develop reputations.

I'm confused about this line though:

In general, a survival/tactics/RPG/RTS.
I don't see any survival or RTS elements in your description - it really sounds like a Tactics/Turn-Based Strategy game with the room to add RPG elements if you want them.  And I'd definitely avoid anything Real-Time in a game like this if I were you.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
