Hey.

Being a complete beginner, I am simply starting out by experimenting and learning.

For instance, I might start a project that only has a cutscene within it.

Now I haven't gone too far with this yet because of an issue that might arise.

Let's say I do this many times with different aspects of a game all contained within different projects.

When I actually start making the final version of the game, will I be able to import the various aspects from the prior projects?

If I can't do that, then I would probably do everything within a single project; even if it does get messy.

you should always have a test and learning project that you will scrap after you learned how to handle everything.

And while there are ways to copy together parts of different projects, that has a few disadvantages due to the way the database and the IDs work - everything that links to the database would be ID-based, and that means that this ID has to be the same over several projects.

So the best way is to do your learning in a scrap project, because you do not want to use your first tries in a later project anyway - as far as I know, 99% of the users who did get something finished started from zero after their learning period, because during that learning they also learned how to do things better than in their first tries.

You might want to follow the link to the starting point in my signature for the tutorials which will teach you the basics as fast as possible.

You can copy/paste events from two different projects opened in two different instances of the engine but you do have to watch the usage of variables / switches plus anything that calls from something specific (like map ID and such that is unique to the project). Just adjust accordingly when doing such things.

Thanks for the help guys.

I will check out those tutorials Andar. I came across the somerandomdude basics tutorial a few days back, which is what got me started.

It is honestly better if you manually recreate something that you liked in your "testing grounds" type of project into your main project since by that point you can most likely do it better/more efficient and so by starting that element from scratch in your proper project you not only get a better constructed element but you also get a little more practice doing it.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
