I have a simple question. What is the most memorable game that you played, that was made in RPG Maker, and why (Any maker included)? And if the 'Why' part if too much for you, just pick one of these to be it's "Most delivering point out of this list":

Artistic Design (Maps, Facesets, Portraits, Parallaxes, music, etc)

Story (Includes voice acting and narrative)

Mechanics(Backend)

I'd love to hear which one is your all time favorite :)

I'm asking because i'd like to play it.

Thanks!

Moved from support to discussion.

It's a really tough question, because there are a lot of fantastic games out there. So, I'll narrow it down to 5 that I can think of right now:

1) Master of the Wind because it has a fantastic story and it was very fun to play.

2) Star Stealing Prince because it's both beautiful and intriguing.

3) Boutalles because not only is it impressive for a game done in a short span of time, it's funny and enjoyable.

4) Princess Princess because it's RTP and it's RTP done well.

5) In Search For Dragons because of Black Hole (makes sense when you play it).

*inspects statement in confusion*

While I'm happy to be in the list I'm not sure how I should take that XDDD (Not that Black Hole isn't awesome, of course).

Huh...games games...haven't really played that many to be perfectly honest...

  • Princess Princess -> It rocks, gameplay's decent, humour's good, Nessiah is awesome.
  • Chain of Retribution ->An excellent and enjoyable game all around. I even wrote a review about it (gave it 4/5 stars, go check it out!). Great humour, epic gameplay, solid narrative, enjoyable as all Frick. Go play it right NOW (it's finished).

May add more at a later time, I'm drawing a blank right now x.x (Also I have so many games in the "downloaded and must play" list OTL).

I can't recommend my own games, can I? ¬3¬

Tee hee! I got to play it as a judge for the contest, so I didn't want to reveal too much. But it's a lovely project you have, Indrah, and worth a play-through. :3

Star Stealing Prince & Twice Upon A Hero remain the only two games I've actually sat down and played through in their entirety in a day! Even though TUAH isn't totally done yet. I do have a lot of RMVX games floating around on my HD but I haven't really just SAT DOWN and played them, though they're all good. I just like seeing people trying to CREATE THEIR VISION~

Master of the Wind. It is one of the best games I've played. I also really enjoyed Star Stealing Prince.

Star Stealing Prince was imo, a very well made game, I enjoyed the atmosphere it set and such (also the story was awesome!). The only other game I remember having a huge memorable experience with would be Tales of the Drunken Paladin, I found the story so well written for a satire parody rpg. And the characters were really played out well:3

Always will be Tales of the Drunken Paladin.

Why?

Because it's amazing.

I heard about it "Tales of the Drunken Paladin". How long did it take for you to finish it?

- Master of the Wind was an awesome experience, and despite my replaying for a few times, I still love the story and the gameplay as much as I did the first time I stumbled upon it. Volrath and Artbane is the best team you could ever find in RM scenes, IMO.

- Cast Aside. That was the game that proved to me, TBS game can be done with RM, and can be done well.

- Star Stealing Prince, for one of the ending. I remember I couldn't sleep after seeing it >.<

- The Drunken Attorney, for the sheer amount of awesome it had xd

The Legion Saga trilogy. The thing's what got me started on RM all those years ago. Its writing is a bit on the weak side now that I think about it, but I was on my Suikoden phase then and this series hit all the right buttons.

The RM game that's always stayed with me was Avadan's The Cartographer, more than anything. One of the first RMVX games I played and still one of the best. I felt it didn't try to be anything it wasn't and the tone of the game was perfect for the world it was set in. I'm sure Avadan would deny me saying this, but his sprites and tiles were equally as amazing, too. I haven't seen a better ship tileset for an RM since, RTP or custom-made.

Lost Heaven made a huge impression on me as I was just getting into RMVX. The story was done really well, the maps and cutscenes were much better than anything I could do at the time, and the battles were insanely fun and well-balanced. To this day I don't think I've gotten as invested in, and certainly haven't been as inspired by any other RM games.

I was also blown away by the top-notch presentation of Quintessence: The Blighted Venom. I remember by jaw dropping in awe the first time I saw the opening credits.

I am currently playing through the first game of The One Night Trilogy.

I have only played for about an hour, and the most memorable part thus far was the first "jump scare". I won't mention it specifically, but it took me completely surprise, and got the juices flowing. I love the ambiance, the music, and the overall creepy feeling I get playing the game. Dark Gaia, you are to be commended. I get pretty jumpy around games like Doom and such, and having an RPG give me the creeps was definitely not expected! Kudos, good sir.

Two thumbs up!

Wither. Because it is the most artistically complete and satisfying RPG Maker game I have ever played.

SkyE: One of the most unique games i've ever played that was made with rpg maker vx. Especially liked how the story and the characters unfold.

I'd say one of mine I remember clear as day was an XP game; "Ballad of The Wind" made by Seita. The game was beautiful, amazing story, nice battle system, brilliant characters and brought a tear to my eye due to its execution ^^ Man I loved that game! Sadly I only have an demo as a remnant of its epicness...

(I wonder what Seita is up to nowadays...) Plus it dialled up my mapping abilities~

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
