I'm trying to use a common event to move other events on a map and it isn't working.

In the editor, the move commands (in the common event) point to the right events when I am currently looking at the map those events are on, but point to random events when looking at different maps. This implies that it should work properly at run-time as long as the player is on the correct map when those move commands are executed.

I don't think common events will move map events after you change maps. There is a check to see if you're still on the same map, and if you're not, it won't do it. One of the nice things about XP that got removed when VX was released.

You can do this but with one very big caveat. When you reference events within a common event, it will reference them by their ID. If your common event moves event 4 when created, it will always move event 4 no matter which map you call it from. I've utilized this to my advantage before by ensuring that certain events, typically copies of party members used for cutscenes, are always placed on every map with the same IDs.

In my game Heir to the Kingdom, I used a common event to switch between characters and placed copies of the ones you weren't controlling in the exact spot they were standing when you swap to a different one. The game let you control each character independently and let you switch between them in order to solve puzzles. The only way this worked was to make sure that my four event copies of my characters were event ID 1-4. This enabled me to run this common event from any map because event 1 was always Duncan, event 2 was always Silva, event 3 was always Devlin and event 4 was always Cassidy. Because it references the event ID, it wouldn't have worked otherwise and I would have had to place my swapping event on every map and set the proper IDs which would have been way too cumbersome.

Hope this bit of info helps.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
