Move Route Glitch?

Since the screenshots you're providing aren't showing what's going wrong, I go back to this:

Can you zip up your project, and a save file right before doing the action in question, and load it up somewhere?


I'm sure it's something simple, and you're just not looking in the right place.
We're never going to help you solve it if you're not checking the right scripts and other events. Someone else needs to take a look, and I'm sure they'll have it figured out in a couple of minutes.

If you are able to upload your project, as Shaz suggested, it would probably be a lot easier for someone to find the solution. It may be that you are now setting the "Captor Gone" switch somewhere else, and that is what is making this event use Page3.


Did you change anything else in your eventing, other than just removing the Erase Event line?

No I mean that he disappears before any of the movements are made. That /isn't/ supposed to happen.
It doesn't matter what is supposed to be happening, it only matters what IS happening - and now you need to start systematic bughunting, guessing what might happen based on watching/playing will NOT help you any longer.
Events cannot disappear unless you use the erase event command - they only switch to pages without a sprite.


You now need to identify (not guess) what really happens, so do the following:


1) change the page 1 sprite to one of the animal sprite, the page two sprite to one of the vehicle sprites and the third page graphic to one of the chest sprites. These are examples, it doesn't matter what sprites you use as long as none of the sprites are the one intended for the event, all pages have absolutely different sprites and NO page is without sprite.


2) playe the game and remember how the event looks like at any given moment.


I'll bet that instead of vanishing, the sprite will suddenly change to the chest (third page grafic) before the move route is executed.


That will tell you that at exactly this moment, the switch 20:Captor gone has been turned ON, because this is the ONLY way to get to that page.


And then you'll have to find the cause for this, which can either be a different event executing the command on the switch, a script modifying that switch for some other reason or whatever else.


It might be that something else happens, but you need to visibly identify which page of the event is active at the moment the bug happens before you can search for the cause, and that can only be done if you have different sprites for each page of the event.

Before I decided to send it for someone else to look at, I looked very hard at every single event that leads up to the man in the jail cell. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

My computer suddenly popped up with a "mandatory update" so I had to restart it. (I usually put it in sleep mode)

Once it restarted, I opened to program again to test the game just to see EXACTLY where it goes wrong, and there was nothing wrong. It worked perfectly.

I'm REALLY confused on how this happened. I mean, I'm ecstatic that the problem "solved itself", but could anyone tell me why it happened that way?

Nope. Nobody can figure out why it was happening in the first place, so nobody is going to be able to tell you why it suddenly worked.


The only thing I can think of is that every time you test played, you said NO when it asked you if you wanted to save.

I did click "yes" so I'm not really sure. Maybe it was my computer rather than the program? I mean that seems kind of weird for a program to do that.

Oh well, at least the problem fixed itself I suppose. Thank you all for trying to help though, it really means a lot!

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
