Move route problem

Guys, ive been trying to figure this out for hours... srsly.. i want my guy to start moving on the beginning of the cutscene, but since i autotrigger the event,

it runs infinitely. If i use a self switch, it doesnt continue to do the commands in the second tab. Using custom route from the beginning is all fine and dandy,

 but it triggers only once, and then what? autoloop the second move route? actually im gonna try this now... yea, no my character is gone in space.

So please help me:

- trigger an event/npc (by itself or via another one thats auto)

- move npc to x

- tell him to chill the f out

- display text

- politely invite him to continue his stroll untill the next text

Oh, bonus question: how do i teleport an npc.. oh wait... "set event location". that could work.

Could you post a screenshot of your event? It sounds like you might have some checkboxes checked. Repeat Movement, perhaps, or Ignore Impossible Movement?

I figured it out in the shower xD. The problem was that after i set self switch to on, that i didnt autorun that event, so it did nothing. now it all works. if someone has the same problem, here are some screenshots

(which are Wrong and the worst thing you can do):

And for your question, only the "wait for completion! checkbox is checked, i think thats by default :) Tnx for the reply though

WRONG!!!

An empty autorun like your third page is the worst mistake you can ever make, because that automatically freezes the entire game if it ever becomes active.

If you can play after that event, it's because the third page never becomes active.

And your second page doesn't make any sense either - why did you place those commands on the second page instead of having them on the first page? there should be no difference, simply move the commands from the second page to the end of the first and delete the second one.

I made half my cutscene by now and i put all the commands on the same starting event, even controlling 2 other npcs with it. But i will have to stop it eventually. How do i do that?

It still loops after it comes to the last line. Does the autorun event stop when i teleport my invisible main character who sits in a corner to a new map? Or would it be better to turn it off somehow?

I saw the self switch trick, i thought that was the way to get out of loops :S

And, can you tell me if its a big problem if i do transparrency on npcs? or should i just portal them when they hit the spot?

*i figured out why people use spoilers for images ;P

Of course - but you switch to an action button page, NOT another autorun or parallel process.
The key is that autorun and parallel process always loop, and you have to switch them off - by switching to a non-autorun page.

Oh, ok. tnx.

One quick question. Do i have to end my autorun event and all the other little events before transferring the main player to a new map, or do the events stop by themselves when i leave?

Wouldnt want to aggregate a whole bunch of infinite loops and things during my game..

Only the map where the player is on exists in memory - the other maps aren't being processed, that's why for example event positions reset upon leaving and returning to a map.


However, if the autorun is not turned off, it will restart the second the player returns to the map (if he does).

Hey guys. How do i do 2 self switches? do i turn off self switch A when i turn B on ? are switches off by default, or are they in limbo and i can use ON and OFF?

i got a battle event.. it starts the battle, and turns A switch on.. this changes the graphic and it offers some talking branches, one of which results in exchanging items and here i need a B switch to change the enemy graphic again and give it a "gtfo" text message for any subsequent interaction

please help !

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
