Movies Wont Play

I have a decent knowledge on RPG Maker. I am currently working on a game based around the Final Fantasy Series.

I have .ogv Files and I have tried using the Import Feature and I have also tried dragging the File into the Movies Folder. I have no problem

Importing the movies but I have a problem with the movie showing. Once I trigger for the movie to be shown in the events. 

The sound of the movie will play. But there will be no visuals. Is there anyway to fix this, or am I just an unlucky guy? ;-;

Videos not only have a file format, but also a codec used for compression. From your description you simply used a codec that isn't supported by Ace, so it can't decode the video sequences.


I don't know which codecs Ace supports, I think it is called something like "Theora". But you can't use newer codecs that have been developed only after Ace had been programmed - those newer codecs usually have better compression, but the programmers of Ace didn't have a magic crystal to knew codecs developed after they finish their work ;-)

.Ogv is Theora I believe and Ace should be able to play it (It's the only format Ace will play).

Do you have a fadeout but forgot to fade in? That would make the sound work but not the movie to show.

.ogv (and others like .mp4, .avi etc) is just a "container", you can make a .ogv that didn't use Theora for all I care... So you still need to make sure that it used Theora.


But yeah there are other things to be looked upon.


Btw, have you tried playing the movie outside of Ace? I had some experiences in the past where when I converted the movie files, they were corrupted of sorts.
