So I was curious. It's been quite popular in games recently, especially visual novels, where multiple endings will occur based on choices the player makes. Of course, a lot of the time these choices are based on options given to the player, rather than the player expressing their options through the game play. Well known examples I can think of that did something like this are: Chrono Trigger/Cross, Undertale, and Bravely Default.
I'm currently have an idea for a multiple branching story, but I don't want to do it the traditional way with choices, I really want a more innovated way to chose which path you'll take. I have nothing against using choices to split paths, but I feel like having it in the game would make it obvious the story will split early on, which is the main thing I'm trying to avoid.
While yes, it would be best to know the story I have in mind to decide how I should split the paths, just think of this more as an infodump. Are you having a game with multiple paths? If so, how are you doing it? Are there any unique ways you've thought of having split paths before, but was too complicated to implement in RPG Maker? What other games can you think of that did this? These are the kinds of things I'm interested in.
