I have come across a problem in rpgmaker mv where if i turn a event on than turn another on it will turn the first one off. Is it possible to have 2 events on at the same time.

here is the example of my problem:

turns gender switch on (male/feamale)

later on...

turns milk switch on

gender switch doesent seem to have an affect.

this causes a lot of problems because a lot of my events are 2 page events that depend on the male and female.

If this is possible tell me how and if it isn't tell me any other possible soloutions.

thanks.pixel raptor

You can have two events active, but each event can have only one page active - it is impossible to have a single event with multiple active pages, if several pages have their conditions fulfilled then page priority will be highest page number = highest priority.

That is not a bug or a problem, but a required mechanic. Without page priority, a lot of other event structures would fail.

If you want several things to happen, they need to be in different events or you need to check them with conditional branches on a single event page.

If you want more detailed help, we need to see screenshots of your events to tell you where to change them.

"How to...?" questions like this should be in the Support forum for the engine you are using.  Based on the info under your avatar, I'll move this to MV Support.  If, in fact, you are using a different engine, please report this post and ask for it to be moved to the Support forum for the engine you are using.

I've moved this thread to RPGMaker MV. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

So, now that we know that you actually mean Switches instead of Events:

Of course it is. While making a game you`ll probably have hundreds of switches turned on/off.

However to me it`s not quite clear what you actually want to ask:

1.So, you`ve created two switches.

2.And now you want to check two Switches at the same time? E.g. wether your character is male or female and has let`s just say Brown or black haircolour? Or is it just the Switch that specifies whether your character is male\female and another switch that has nothing to do with the first one?

Well, it`s actually pretty easy:

1. Create a new Event.

2. Click control Switches in the event section

3. If you haven`t already named the Switches you want to turn on, do so by clicking Switch => Single and clicking one of the Switch IDs and then typing in the name

4.Click OK and then set the Operation Settings to ON

5. Repeat for the second switch

=> Whenever the Event you`ve created is turned on, both Switches are activated

After doing this you can check whether the Switches are on or not by using a conditional branch.

Edit: Sorry, didn`t read through the original post carefully.

That`s easy:

First of all: Just don`t use different Event pages. That`s unnecessary.

Instead:

1. Create a condtional branch on whether the gender Switch is on. Also tick the create else branch at the very bottom of the window

2. Let`s just say that activating the gender Switch makes the char male. Now, createanother conditional branch under the "If Switch X is on" that checks your second Switch and again tick the create else branch.

3. Repeat the later for the "Else part of the branch.

Now you just have to Event what going to happen if [Switch 1 on, Switch 2 on], [Switch 1 off, Switch 2 on] etc.

automatically.

If you turn on a switch, then that switch will remain on indefinitely. It will never be turned off unless you specifically command it to be turned off.

What most likely happens is that you have different pages of the same event conditioned to different switches - in that case only one page can be active, you can never have multiple pages on the same event active. But that is not a problem of switches turning off - they will always remain on, the lower priority event pages will just not react to them.

If you need more details, please post screenshots of the events you're having trouble with and we can tell you how to change them.

I think you might be getting your terms mixed up.

Can you please post screenshots of your two events - if they have multiple pages, post screenshots of each page.  So that's 4 screenshots you need to give us.  Make sure to show the whole event window, as we need to see more than just the event commands.

And I suggest you take a look at Andar's starting point for new users - it contains guides to the most basic stuff in RPG Maker, and I think you will benefit by looking through them.  A lot of it is written for Ace, but MV works the same way.

no, most likely it's either a logic problem or a problem with page priority.

We need to see screenshots of all event pages to see which one it is and how to solve it.
