In my game I was thinking about doing multiple clothing( like 3 or 4, depending on the char) that would change accordingly with the part of the story of which the player is in.
I already started making the sprites and all(not all of them though), but then I started wondering if it was really that big of a deal.
So, I wanted to know your opinion...
Should I stick with the normal and ceremony clothing, doing just 2 sprites skins per char, or should I do the complete wardrobe?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

If your making a JRPG, I'd suggest multiple clothing, SumRndmDud made a script for MV, if you equips an item it changed your sprite sheet, which is really cool. I personally am using it in the farming sim I'm making.

Yes, that would be really nice but I don't use MV, it's Ace XD thanks anyway for the tip.
Yeap I am trying to do something like a JRPG because I grow up with the FF series, so it's like my dream to do great stories like they did in these series... I will stick with multiple clothing then! The clothing changes accordingly with the story, so they start with one and end with another. Thanks a lot, really! You have truly helped me a lot (I am a really indecisive person)
Good luck with your projects!

I love it when characters can have different sets of clothing. In fact, in games like the "Tales of ____" series, one of my favorite things to do is change up my characters costumes. In my Demon Hunter game, the player was able to unlock 6 different costumes for the main character and a lot of players LOVED it...I'm sure it was mostly because they were mostly silly costumes, but still, it added a bit more flavor to the game.

As rare as your approach is I love the few games that do what you are describing. Mostly either the player is given control over the character's looks or else they'll never change anything. As simple as it was I found, in FFT for instance, it was really immersive to me how Ramza changed from frilly noble's battledress to crude soldier armor after he took up his mother's maiden name while Delita went from crude soldier armor to noble's battledress as he wormed his way up the Nanten ranks on his way to kingship.

Yeah I want to make the development of the characters not only reflect on their personality, I want to show it in the way they look, too.
Zane, my main character, starts off with just simple soldier clothes, and along his progression, his mind and power becomes stronger so does his armor.
I got scared that people wouldn't bother looking into these little details, so that's when I got confused and wondering if it was worth the effort.
But really, thank you all for your help. Now I know that my work will not be in vain!

I don't want to turn this into a Script Requests thread, but have you seen Venka's Wardrobe script in this thread? It might do what you are looking for.

Thank you a lot @Kes but for what I am going to do I don't really need a script. I'll change the clothes manually, since it will be story related. They start with one, then after a certain event they change and in the end, I'll make them change again. I was just unsure if I should do it or stick with only one. But really, thank you a lot for the trouble of looking for this to me!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
