Hello everybody!

I'm trying to make a h.u.d. with different parts of the screen relaying persistent information. I don't want to obscure the map, though, so I want to resize the map camera to a smaller square.

Here take a look at this:
Untitled.png

Something like that. 3 or 4 sections with each section containing a different scene or something.

Is it even possible?

Thank you!

It is possible, that's the shortest answer.
A longer answer is, it requires knowledge about how MV draws the tiles and then edit it accordingly.

I think you can make this with the show picture command.
For example, those black lines. You can put them in the picture.
And about the HUD you can make with the Orange Hud.js and i think theres some plugin commands to hide or show the huds you make anytime you want.
If you dont want to occupy part of the screen, you can resize the width screen according with the width of the hud.

Yeah, how do we go about that? I want to resize the main viewport to a square so I have some space left for the HUD.

The community basic plugin, come with rm mv. There you can change screen size of the game.
The plugin of the orange.hud you can easily find searching here in the fórum.
The picture you can made with GIMP, an editor of image.
So when you put the picture in the game, put "!" without quotes in the beginning of the file.
!my picture.on
Then when you walk, the picture walk to, but it is always be in the position you put it

Thank you. I tried something similar.

The problem is that when you walk, it's centered on the whole game window. I want to move the game walk area, shift left so it's off-center the main game window. If you look at my picture on my first post. I want to use the game window as it's default size, let's say 816x624. Inside that, I want to make a window that is 624x624 for the map and game play area. the rest of the resolution, 192x624, I want to exclusively use that for my HUD.

It's like making mini-screens inside the big screen.

The key is in rpg_sprites if I remember correctly, particularly in Spriteset_Map. Although I'm not entirely sure to be honest.

After over a year it is unlikely that the OP is still searching for a solution.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
