Does anyone know where to find music which you can use for commercial games in the style of the old RM2K style?
VGmusic.com is a pretty big site for .midis from all the classic NES and SNES games but you can't use them for commercial games.
I'm looking for .mp3, .ogg files which sound like either old NES, SNES or RM2K games. VGmusic is a prime example for the music I'm looking for.

I found many sites which provide free to use RPG maker music, but most of them sound "too modern".
Someone in here suggested this site for example, which hosts very good music, but it does not fit for my project, since it sounds... well... to modern.

The 8bit stuff seems pretty SNES to me. If it's too modern maybe you're not looking for anything that sounds that advanced. Maybe just things like NES and Gameboy and such?

FYI, you can't use the music from VGmusic for non-commercial games either. It just means that you're less likely to get sued for the copyright violation.

Thank you, I missed the 8bit-section there.

Yes, the 8bit stuff is exactly what I'm looking for. It sounds just like the music from old RM2k games I played years ago. But I have lots of trouble finding BGMs like this, because most of them are rips from SNES games, which cannot be used.

Thank you, I'll have a look!
