Hey guys I was thinking of making this post for sharing these brillant musicians that are terrible persons but pretty good musicians.

My example would be one guy that; even though I like his music, I don't respect him as a person.

Jeff Whitehead - Leviathan

The mind behind Leviathan. This guy is a brillant musician, he has no difficulty in making good music all alone, but I do fear him and despise this guy.

First= He raped her girlfriend with a tatoo machine (he's a tatoo artist) but I don't know if the statement was true or false  :distrust:

Second= Some of his lyrics show a lot of hate towards all human beings and a truly lack of empathy with everything ("I miss watching you die", "History of rape", "True traitor, true whore", etc..).

Third= I saw like 3 or 4 interviews from this guy and he's intimidating, scary, says weird things, etc...

Even though I don't like him as a person, I do find his music to be quite good.

Do you have any similar musician like that?

Hm, it's rare for me to hate a musician, being the avid music fan that I am.

Also Levianthan sounds quite good (melodic black metal in general does).
quite In fact I don't think I hate any musicians as a person. I make fun of a lot of mainstream pop musicians for some of their cringy behaviors, but that as a far as I go.

I cannot say for certain on any of the following (for me I'd have to know them personally) but I've heard some nasty things...

Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica is not the nicest person and tends to be dramatic at times, I've heard.

Dave Mustaine, the front man of Megadeth, I've heard similar things about him.

Adam Yauch aka MCA, formerly of the Beastie Boys (R.I.P.), was once portrayed to be a party boy, and misogynistic. This is actually something I'm relieved to know was never really true, even if his lyrics stated otherwise (it's how you got popular then and still today).

Ted Nugent, okay, this is more than mere speculation. He's a great musician, but an absolute mean SOB. Of course, he's .... I won't say. That kind of thing isn't allowed here but one search of him and you'll see what I mean.

John 'Ozzy' Osbourne. I actually don't know if this is true but it wouldn't surprise me; it is said that he despises women, though no reason is ever given.

Yes, the bat thing is all true. I was there.

Axl Rose, formerly of Guns 'N' Roses, is quite the a$$hole. This we all know to be true, but the rumor is that he presented his attitude as a mere act.

I'd mention what I know about Jimi Hendrix, but I won't, since it involves less than pleasant topics.

Ian Kilmister aka Lemmy, of Motörhead, used to have a God Complex of sorts, though in later years he seems to not be so hateful towards people.

Marshal Mathers is a bombshell of a man; he used to be so mean to people of so many different walks of life. He later would explain that these feelings he had bottled up over the years came out in his lyrics, for better or worse. But he's still a mean SOB.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Um, you see, that's a little tough because I listen to Vocaloid, and computers don't really have personalities. But I guess two really old musicians that were not very nice were Mozart and Beethoven. Mozart was really obnoxious from what I hear, and Beethoven had quite the temper indeed.

Lol I don't consider Leviathan as melodic black metal xD

I have heard Mozart was quite a funny person but I don't know xD... (He did had an escatological humour haha)

I don't hate any of the (two) musicians I know personally and honestly I don't follow the personal lives of any musicians enough to really know whether I like them at all beyond their music itself.

That said, Ian Watkins is a sick pup, and I guess if I'm honest I do kind of hate him for what he did and for the fact that because of it my stomach churns in disgust every time I hear what used to be one of my favorite bands play a song and I just cannot listen to any of their stuff anymore.

@ColdHate I barely know the name, and only heard a couple of his songs. But it makes sense; why else would Racer X rip one of his songs? (Y.R.O.)

@HexMozart88 Ludwig Von Beethoven was a very nasty, sharp-and-foul tongued man; he never married (I'd personally hate to be the poor wench he took home with him), he rarely bathed even though he had access to bathing, and once he went deaf, he was repulsive and shrill with his voice.

But he was utterly effing brilliant. He's inspired at least a thousand artists over the centuries.

@Alexander Amnell I hadn't listened to Lostprophets in some time; but I hadn't heard of this before...wow.

But it doesn't surprise me much...I had heard that John Cooper of Skillet had been charged with first degree murder (though there's no evidence that this was true).

Yet, I can think of many nasty people that live great lives, because of commercial success, or some other form of power.

But I won't go there.

It's nice to know that there are some truly benevolent people in the music business, like John Coulton, and King Diamond. Good people.

@ColdHate: Lol it's just me then? D:
@Reapergurl: I didn't know anything polemic about Jimi Hendrix though, I'm not sure if I should search what's wrong with him or not.

Uh, now that I see other nasty mentions in this thread, there's also John Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas. But I'm not sure it's something appropriate to mention directly either. It's disgusting stuff.

So, it's Melodic Death Metal. I love that kind of music.

Hmm ... not sure about that one. I think there are horror stories about many artists, and some obvious controversies like Wagner's links to German nationalism. But I can't think of any specific examples in my own thoughts atm.

John Lennon. Great writer, garbage human being.

Oh, I just remembered, too. . . Fiona Apple. Not a "bad" person, but batspit insane. Her music is great, but my god, if I had to sit through dinner with her. . .

Markus „Vratyas Vakyas“ Tümmers from his band Falkenbach (German Viking/Pagan Metal Band)
I think He is the best example for the topic.
I like his music. His music has its own individual style which differs very much in music like Ensiferum, Equilibrium or Arkona. It's more softer and melodic. Check out for example Baldurs Tod, Vanadis or Heathen Foray.
But he is racist. In some interviews he says, he can't understand how someone can be proud of his homeland because the multiculturalism mixed up some countries, so they don't have their own identity anymore. Every culture and race are worth keeping which is impossible if you mix them. Markus asks, how can he proud of Germany, if nobody remembers his own geniuses and if Germany is no "Germania" anymore.
Even his band is free of politic meanings and ideology, it's sad that such a talent man has racist characteristics. Disappointing!

Dave Mustaine, the front man of Megadeth, I've heard similar things about him.
For example?

Bruce Springsteen, pretty much for being the opposite of what I stand for... but I digress.
