MV 1.3 data name 'error'

I found a bug in 1.3


For example when your paralax map is named 'Testparalax.png' the maker will find it.


If it is named 'Testparalax.PNG' with capital PNG in the end the maker won't find it.


I think the code doesn't ignore the current culture.


Not a terrible mistake but this could annoy or irritate lots of people, right?

This is due to the nature of how MV gets files for the game. Even on desktop applications, MV is technically running in web mode. The desktop applications can, in a way, be thought of as a web server, as all requests to retrieve files is through web requests (Just to clarify, you are not running a web server.). Web requests are case sensitive, so in order to test both extensions, we'd have to send a request to each file separately, which uses time and resources, which is bad for games loading. And what if they both respond? We have to assume they're different, so how do we decide which to use?


It isn't unheard of where people use uppercase extensions, but the vast majority use it in all lowercase, and so that was the method used.

Be gratefull that the editor filters this during development.


Only windows allows the users to ignore capitalisation and pretends that abc.png is the same as ABC.png.


Just imagine that the editor would allow you to mix up different files like Windows does, then you deploy to mobile and nothing works anymore. And you would have to change the files throughout your game after it is finished and deployed to get it to work again....

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
