MV crashes my PC when trying to playtest

I just got MV recently, and whenever I try to playtest it, as soon as the window comes up, my computer crashes and I have to turn it back on, with the project corrupted. I do not know what is causing it, and I seem to be the only person in the world with this problem, as I tried looking for help, but nothing. This also only works with MV, as I tried using VX Ace and the others and it works just fine. I'm also using Windows 7.

Anybody help me with this? I really want to use MV, but I can't when playtesting instantly turns off my computer.

First step would be to check all your drivers, I think, and ensure they're all up to date.

It would help if you describe what is still visible when the computer crashes, as that can give us some indicators as what might be the cause.

Or try to open the project in Firefox instead of playtesting and tell us what happens then.

Additional option to old drivers would be a background program blocking the game, damaged windows files (especially if other programs also crash)

Could you give us some specifics on your computer as well? And check if you can still open the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) when the game has crashed.

I've checked my drivers, and even switched to Windows 10 to see if it would work. *spoiler alert it didn't*

That's your videocard failing. 

It's doing one of two things:

1) The thermal halt is reached on the CPU (does the CPU fan kick into high speed before the monitor goes off?)

2) The GPU crashed (bad drivers and cooling problems both cause this)

Like the core thing to look at is if Chrome/Chromium work normally. If MV is causing problems, so would running Chrome/Chromium normally.
