So, changing the actor's default face image and SV and TV sprites (for example, as part of a clothing-swap event or system) is clear. But what if I had a bunch of emotions used for dialogues, and I wanted those faces to dynamically reflect the actor's current clothing?
I can have a face image PNG for each emotion and clothing set (and make sure that each emotion corresponds to a specific place in the matrix, uniform across all clothing sets), and I can have a variable that tracks which outfit the actor is currently wearing. But at my level, the only way I can think of to actually show the right face/clothing combination in the dialogue is to use extremely cumbersome conditional trees that will bloat dialogue events out of control.
So, is there a plugin out there that allows for a macro that can be used in Text boxes to display the matrix position of a PNG that dynamically changes based on a variable?
Or else, maybe this is built into the software and I'm a big ole dummy.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
