I am thinking of starting a new small game project to fiddle with on the side of some bigger projects I have going on, and I wonder..

Is it worth buying MV or should I just stick to VX ace?

I make my own graphics, so the new generator and stuff like that makes no difference to me.. but the increase in res is tempting..

Any other major reason to get it?

Multi-platform distribution was the single biggest selling point for me. The fact that I can deploy to the web or mobile made it worth whatever they wanted to charge.

Hmm yeah the multi platform support is definitely a good thing. That opens up a lot of possibilities.

Mapping is much easier since you can place 2 B-E tiles and they'll overlap. To me, this is the #1 selling point. (if you parallax it may not be such a big deal though)

Ace has major performance issues, nonexistant default mouse support and very small resolution max.

These issues are gone with MV.

I am also still using Ace, but I downloaded the trial of MV to see what I liked differently. I really like the cross platform as well as the mouse support. The resolution and integrated SV battle system are also a plus for me. I want to get MV but as of yet can't bring myself to pay that price tag for even those upgrades. I am sure I will eventually though.

Also, in MV's favor: built in side-view battle as an alternative to the front view battle, with just a switch in the database to pick which variant you want for your game is a huge help, since it saves immensely on scripts.

MV wins this hands down. The only thing VX Ace might still have a leg up on at the moment is user-generated content. If you're looking to use a custom battle system of some sort and are incapable of building one of your own, for example, Ace may still provide more choices for you to choose from. That, and supported custom graphics. I believe MV will catch up eventually, but probably not too soon.

I'm using Ace for now because I want to finish the project I'm on and it would be too tedious to port on MV but I can't wait to get back on MV and make a new game on it.
It's night and day.

Better resolution, mapping is simpler, plugin system is better, more built-in parameters for equipment, mouse support etc...

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
