So one thing I love about RMMZ is that I can run it without having to start up and log into Steam even though I bought it through Steam. Is there any way to do this for RMMV as well?

(I hope this counts as a tech support question. If not, mods feel free to put it where it belongs)

If you’re on a Mac (like myself), the answer is a hard no.

If you’re on Windows, I’m guessing that because you bought it on Steam that the only way to launch is to launch Steam, which is essentially what Macs have to do to operate the program.

Yeah I should specify that I'm on a PC. Yeah I bought it from Steam (both MV and MZ) and while I can start MZ without first starting Steam, the same isn't true of MV. At least, not unless there's some trick to get around that.

I guess I just hate feeling like I have to go invisible so that I can dodge gaming requests, chat, etc when I want to get work done.

I think you can set your profile to offline mode, log out of the 'friends' feature in steam, and also use steam in offline mode? You can also use a minimal version of steam that doesn't take up as much mem.

Making test maps is really illuminating when it comes to figuring out how the real maps should be. It's like the outline that one writes for the story before writing the actual story.
I am adamant about not having missable quests, which means having to write entirely new scenes at each plot progression that takes into account that time and events have passed since the quest could first be accepted while still having there be a quest to solve in the first place. It's worth every second.
Surprisingly useful and thought provoking
