One the rules on the RPG Maker MV Tutorials board states:
"You must also show that you are using a legal version of RPG Maker MV"
From just reading this rule, I had idea what it meant. How would I ever show this? Aren't illegally obtained copies still, well, copies, which would look exactly the same? Does any tutorial posted in this forum need to include a proof of purchase?
After looking through some posts in the forum, and also checking out the slightly differently worded version of this rule in the MZ section, I'm guessing that there exist some fan-made translations of the engine and you don't want people to show these? If so, it'd be really nice if the rule was clarified to reflect that - "You cannot use an illegal version of MV" should suffice.

There's also this:
"Wait 72 hours before bumping your thread, to give an equal chance to other members and their recruitment thread." (underline mine).
I'm guessing this was copied and pasted from somewhere else? It probably shouldn't mention recruitment threads, though in general I'm not entirely sure why you'd bump your tutorial thread either.

So…all I can really say is there are a ton of section rules that are uber old. It would take me quite a awhile to look at everything and write up/QC revisions…but I wouldn’t super mind starting to chunk away at that. I honestly think a lot of sections could use a bit of TLC.

I wonder where you can show that your engine is legal copy.
even so if it can be showed somehow, if a screenshot is taken, the others
can simply copy that image and paste it in their image to be "legal".

so how can 1 tell if its legal or illegal copy?

Truth be told…I’m not entirely sure of the intention of that rule. I do know that sometimes screenshots can reveal subtle signs that the engine is pirated but that’s a global forum rule and proof of purchase is only requested when there is suspicion a pirated engine is being used.

I image that certain things are achieved specifically through cracked and modded engines.

My best guess would be that tutorials posted here can only use the legitimate, unadulterated RPG Maker (duh), so no engine modification as a precursor is allowed

no, they were not - not for any maker up to and including VXAce.

in early years the japanese distributors didn't care about international distribution, which means that there was no official english version directly.

MV was the first where english and japanese were published at the same time, in all earlier cases the english maker came out up to a year after the japanese one.
And that means most pirates based their pirated version on the juapanese one with a pirate translation that was visibly different from the later official english version.
A screenshot was enough to show whether you had the legal translation or a pirated program, although the exact differences were never listed to prevent cheating on the screenshots.

The rule about legal versions of MV is because those rules were based on the Ace and XP tutorial rules from when the forum was first getting started. Back then illegal versions were more of a problem so it needed to be stated, and when MV and MZ came out years later it was simpler to just copy the rules. As for the recruitment comment, that was another copy-paste mistake a test to make sure people were fully reading the rules. :p

But if anyone does spot some odd/confusing parts of section rules, we can tweak them so they're clear and easy to understand. :)

Alright friends, how does this sound now? I’ll work on hitting up some other tutorial sections throughout the week (and probably look for others ones to freshen up all-in-all)…but I’ll probably start with the tutorial sections to get them all on the right foot.

So in my SRPG, when kill monsters, they leave an aura that grants +20% Crit, +20% PDMG MDMG. Aura lasts only for 1 turn, it forces players when and where to last hit.
