So, a while ago I made a game and finished it.

I recently made a sequel to this game, that uses the same actors,. However, when I change the initial level or faceset, it just comes up as the original level and faceset I used in the first build. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you continue your sequel in the same project folder than your first project?

Once you make a chance to an actor an old save game will not register the change, as the actor has already been initialized. Make sure you are initializing the actor.

when and how did you change the values, did you use "new game" or "load saved game" on the title screen, and does your "change membership" commands contain the initialize or not?

I can think of several different things that might have happened here, but we need more info about what you've done before we can even guess.

I haven't started a new game yet, my assumption is that if I start a new game that everyone will be their correct levels.

base objects, runtime objects and saved objects are all different objects.
every time you create a new project, you're presented with base objects.... when you use them as a standalone game, they're runtime objects.... if you save them and restore them, they're saved objects, but if you make a change to the base game and restore the save, the save will differ from the runtime object.

the objects you see when you play the game are always copies of the ones you see in the editor.

loading a saved file overrides any changes to the actors that you make in the database of the new game, because the actor data is stored in the savefile. So the only way to change the actors from the saved file is by an event in the game that they go to after the load.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
