My Actors & Enemies Deal ZERO Damage

This is a brand new project, there is very very little going on here. I have a few Yanfly Plugins and Gameus Quest System (although even with all Plugins Disabled I'm still having this issue)
This is not an "Are you loading a Saved File" issue - I'm not working with any Saved Files. I have zero Saved Files.


For Testing Purposes:
    There are 4 Actors, 4 Classes, 4 Weapons, 1 Enemy


    Class default numbers have not been changed


    Cleric can equip Scimitar
    Fighter can equip Longsword
    Rogue can equip Dagger
    Wizard can equip Quarterstaff


    All of these Weapons have an Attack of 400
    (just because the original numbers were like 2, 5, 7, etc, and I thought maybe that was the probelm)
    NONE of these Weapons have Traits, Notes, Price, Description, etc
    ONLY a Name, Icon, Attack, Weapon Type and Animation
    Each Actor has their appropriate Weapons equipped before the Game begins


    Goblin Stats:
    HP: 6
    MP: 0
    ATK, DEF, MATK, MDEF, AGI, LCK set to 1


    Hit Rate 100% for all weapons
    Attack Element Physical

Anyone have any ideas?
I've created a blank project and everything works fine. I'm wondering if I changed a default setting? But I wouldn't know where to start looking

Check your damage formula in the attack skill. Did you edit it any? If there is any error in the damage formula the engine will always return 0.


Otherwise, check and make sure your weapon stats are actually being added to the actor. Does equipping the weapon actually grant you an ATK of 400?

I'm not sure if this "bug" is still in MV too, but in VX Ace you needed to set up an "attack element" and "hit rate" for every attack, or else it will give a "0" damage message. :) (\s/)

It's not the Skill, I can't get them to do a Basic Attack, with and without a Weapon equipped

Check your damage formula in the attack skill. Did you edit it any? If there is any error in the damage formula the engine will always return 0.

Yes, their ATK ratings are all over 400 when I open their Status Menu

Each of the 4 described above is a copy/pasted version of the screenies

Basic attack always uses skill 1, unless you changed that with a plug-in. Please attach a screenshot of  your skill at id 1 so we can see what your skill 1 is and see if there is an error in that skill that is causing this.

AH that must be it!
I deleted the original Skills and added 133 new ones, but the first Skill has no data in it, and it's a Skill that the Actors use in Skill Checks when interacting with objects in the world.
Ok, so I guess I'll just edit the json file so I dont have to copy and paste 133 Skills >.<

That would do it. Basic attack would then be calling an empty skill, which would say to do 0 damage. So one fix is to do what you suggest, and another is to find a plug-in that lets you assign a different skill for attack with the weapon, so that you can put it in 134 or thereabouts if you wish.


BTW, before you go edit the files, do know that guard always uses skill 2. So you may want to make room for that one as well while you are at it.

Yes I noticed that when I opened a blank game to try and compare the differences.
So what I wound up doing was keeping the original 7ish Skills, and just started My Custom Skill at Number 8.


This way, JUST in case that happens again, I'll be able to copy/paste the original skills, or use them if I need them.

I have a different problem where my actors cant even attack.
The attack option is just gray.

Also I aleready fixed the problem.
I had changed the weapon type of the normal attack :)

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
