Ok, so I have transferred this project of mine from my PC from home to my laptop so I can work on it.

For some strange reason, my battlebacks are black.

In this pic it was supposed to be Grassland and Grassland.
I have tried Grassmaze and it still won't work.

What can I do to fix this?

Did you do a full install on the laptop? Might be missing the RTP files. Also I can't see your picture.

Slight confusion here.
You have posted in VX Ace, but are now referring to VX. Could you clarify which engine is involved.

If you have transferred just the project, then the only files present in it will be any that you have specifically imported. Everything else e.g. the battlebacks, are in the RTP, which is probably not installed on your laptop. You will have to install it yourself.

Go to the top of this page and let your cursor hover over the 'Download' button. In the dropdown menu, the middle column is called 'Additional'. In that column you will see 'Run Time Packages'. Click on that, select the RTP you want and download it. Then follow the installation wizard.

That didn't do anything.
Unless I didn't install it correctly.
I have installed the RTP in my RPG Maker VX Ace folder.

Nope. Use the default location that the installer suggests.

Well, I would like to know the default location, as the installer won't reset it to that.

Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Enterbrain

On my computer there is then a folder RGSS3 and within that another folder RPGVXAce that has the RTP
I'm not sure if the \RGSS3 is created by the installer or not, so you might have to try both putting it in and not putting it in.

Does it work properly on your desktop? Can you open the images (maybe they got corrupted in the copy over).

Do the files in question show up within RPGVXA itself (the editor)? Perhaps you have correctly installed the RTP by now but saved the project without the files in the meantime and have to set the battleback again.

Well, when I test the battle, the battleback works just fine.

But when I actually playtest the entire game...

The playtest (test the battle - not run the game), I believe, it uses the default files in RTP. The game play (what you call playtest) will use files from where ever you have specified to get them from if they are not included in the Project folder.

Is there a script that is telling where to get the files from?

Also where are you keeping the files? C:\Program Files or C:\Documents?

The default location for your project files is C:\Users\%Username%\Documents\RPGVXAce
The default location for the program install is in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)
Enterbrain folder
The default location for the program in steam is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RPGVXAce

Try copying the Background files from the RTP to your project folder\Graphics\Battlebacks1 and Battlebacks2

Ok, for some reason the project saved in My Documents has working battlebacks.
The problem is is that it is an older version of the game. WAY TOO OLD. Like I have done some progress on the game that I would rather not lose.

Please give a Screenshot of the map properties of the map where that happens so that we can see what and how you set your battleback.

What happens if you set the battleback in the map properties and not by event command?

Would you be willing to send me a pm of your game files. Obviously this is not getting solved so it would be faster to have the game to work on.
