I cannot seem to make my character move when I overlay an image over my map. The reason I am overlaying an image is so that I can have streetlights that have lighting. However I cannot seem to make my character move when it is overlayed.

I suspect it's because your event is set to autorun. It's basically trying to show the image every frame which is locking up the player's input. Try setting your event to parallel process, then place an Erase Event Command underneath the show image. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you very much ! I can move along in game now when the image is shown ! However the image seems to follow the player and not stay still like I originally intended. Is there a way to fix that ?

Inside your show picture command, check 'Scroll Picture With Map' (on the left underneath Display Position)

I enabled that option however the image still follows the player, but the image does seem to have somewhat of an effect as it kinda makes the image go move back a little bit when the player moves.

Hmm, it's been a long time since I've worked with RPG makers 2k/2k3, I'm not sure what could be causing the problem...

One thing I might suggest is to try making your lighting image the same size as the map you're displaying it on. I believe the default tile size is 16x16 pixels, so you can calculate the size your image should be by multiplying the map height and width by 16. For example, if your map size is 20x15, your image size should be 320*240. Let me know if that helps!

I had originally made my entire image the same size as the map I was displaying it on.

RMMV
that sounds as if the parallel process is still running and updating the picture position.
have you forgotten the erase event command mentioned above?
Or if that doesn't work, then you need to switch off the event to a different page.
