My player won't move after a cutscene

Hai guise

I'm having trouble getting control of my character after my event runs through.

I tried exit event process but it doesnt even make a difference.

Also all my tiles are passable. Ive been able to move my character by inputting the move route, but i cant manually move it freely. 

Im not even able to open the menu. 

I also have a lot of events that are connected to this one via switches. 

I hope that isnt what's causing it.

I attached some screenshots to see if it helps anyone understand it better.

If you can move via a move route but can't using the keyboard, then chances are you have an autorun event somewhere that is not being turned off. You can't do an Exit Event Processing on an autorun event, because they loop by default - an exit would just send it to the top again.


Look at what other commands you have on the map (is this before or after the transfer?) and see what might be set to autorun. It could also be a common event.

Sorry wasn't sure which forum was the best to use.

I have all my trigger actions set to action button, so I dont think autorun is affecting it?

I cant use common events either btw, because im using the lite version. The full version is coming soon. 

I tried it out again and apparently after the transfer I cant move via move route either. (NVM this. I just didnt have it set to player. I can still use move route to move my character.)

But if I take my character to the room the event transfers him too I can move just fine.

Also the star on tilset tab B is set too. 

Ugh what a draaaggg. I thought it was going so smoothly.  :(

No, from your description of the problem I also think Shaz found the correct cause.

There has to be an autorun (that you don't remember any longer) somewhere on that map that isn't switching off.

Go to the editor and open every event on that map (better go row by row to prevent overlooking one), checking every page of every event for one of the following:

- trigger = autorun or

- moveroute set on "wait for completion" for the player, and having that route blocked by another event or unpassable tile

Nevermind on the last post I can still move my route perfectly after being transferred.

It's still just I can't control my character. :c

And all my triggers are set to action button. 

Is there a way I can just upload what I have so far so that it's still editable so someone else could take a look?

I'm really stuck. :c

Sure, you can do that too. Just zip/rar the entire project folder and upload it to another site such as dropbox or medafire. Don't compress it.


Though likely you still have an autorun on. Check your common events, one of them might have been triggered by one of those fruit/vegetables switches you've turned on, and it turned on an autorun for the common event.

The other option is that you have a move route that's set to Wait for Completion, but there's something getting in the road so it actually can't complete.

Thanks for the help guys, but nothings changed my outcome. /:

Im just going to delete it and start over from scratch. 

Is there anything I can do in the future to avoid this??

Mainly with the autorun issue everyone was telling me about?

Am I supposed to avoid autorun?

How did I even activate it? Do i need it?

Why don't you load your project up so someone can take a look at it?


If you can't find out WHY it's not working, then you can't possibly avoid it in future, because you don't know what mistake you're making.


You don't need to AVOID autorun - you just need to understand what it's for, and make sure you don't use it when you don't really mean to. Autorun on this particular event is not the problem. And in this particular case, as we've said, we don't even KNOW if it's an autorun that is causing the issue. Not being able to move is just a symptom that is very common when people use autorun events incorrectly, but as we said, there could be other reasons.


If you can load it up somewhere, I can take a quick look and see if I can figure out what's stopping things.

I wouldn't know where to upload it. :c You have to download dropbox and mediafire to use them. And I dont feel comfortable doing that.  

Would I be able to upload it here?

I tried 7zipping the file but I dont think I even did that right.  :(

To be honest im not even sure what they were asking me to with my 7zip program.

File > Compress would do the job. Uncheck the box to include the RTP, and don't click Compress.


I think you can only load completed games and demos here. I don't think you have to download anything to use Mediafire.

No, it isn't - it's only a few bytes large, and a game usually is a few Megabytes at minimum.

Please follow Shat advice and use the build-in compression function of Ace, that will include everything needed for us to check.

That is the game.rvproj2 file, which we all have, and which contains nothing about your actual game.


You need to zip the entire folder, not just a single file.

Strange that mediafire suddenly asked me to do a captcha to authorize a download. I've never had it do that before.

You have a common event set to autorun when switch 1 is turned on. And you're turning on switch 1 in the cherries event.


Even though there are no event commands, ANY event that's set to autorun and is currently running will prevent the player from controlling the character.


Just delete that autorun common event - it's not doing anything anyway.

I don't see anything that says autorun.

The first common event has Autorun as the trigger. It doesn't have a name or any event commands, so I'm guessing you THOUGHT about doing something, made a start, and didn't continue. Just change the trigger to none.
