Mysterious Shadows?????

I am playing around with the RTP tilesets and pre-loaded Office1F.
Modfied the floor plan, added a column, etc...
I wanted to add a bit more detail so I copied a tile and pasted it (see red circles in the spoiler.)
No shadow.
I copied the shadowed tile thinking it had been painted to mimic the shadow (i.e. an image tile.)

Still no shadow.

So what is going on? Is there a method to copy and 'paste special' or is this a hard code somewhere in the base files?
Any thoughts?

Isn't that shadow coming from the Shadow pen tool?
I don't know if there's a tool to copy-paste shadows from this tool, but it's just a few clicks to remake them.
