I have a question. I have RPG maker VX Ace, can I do the clouds you did I VX Ace, or do I need XP?

Thanks MRD256! You can do those clouds perfectly in VX Ace, friend. All you have to do is get familiar with the Fogs system. It's not that different in VX Ace!

I've had some issues with my computer, but the Director's Cut version of the game is nearly ready. There is currently a beta version for a couple of testers to try out, so it shouldn't take very long. My apologies!

Finally! Sorry about the crazy delays, lads.

The Director's Cut version is now up. I updated the main post with the new link (download HERE) and all of all of these changes:

  • Quick FAQ and in-game Controls screen added. 
  • Slight changes in the game's soundtrack. 
  • An overall wave of bug fixes.
  • An improved translation. 
  • A revisited, shorter introduction. 
  • Revisited cutscenes: completely new scenes and some changes to existing ones. 
  • Disappearance of the more monotone bits of the story. A more homogeneous experience. 
  • Disappearance of the minor sidequests to favor a more straight-forward plot. 
  • A change of controls to emulate the more efficient model we came up with for Natura 2. 
  • The player has now the ability to turn without having to step forward. 
  • Gameplay balancing: Better stat growth, weapons' damage formula revisited, updated enemy stats, ... 
  • Gameplay balancing: Non-limited saves, reduced overall stamina cost, improvements in enemy AI, ... 
  • Gameplay balancing: Improved item distribution, additional shops, equipment buffs and debuffs, ... 
  • Improved Custom Menu: Visual improvements, includes current objective and amount of money, ... 
  • A more intuitive A.I.D. system to improve the process of Akk consumption. 
  • Some new weaponry. 
  • New character animations. 
  • A severe map redesign of some of the already existing locations of the game.

Hello there. I finished the Director's Cut version and I quite liked it, here are a few thoughts:

  1. Dhaser story and character development felt uncompleted, you kind of just remove him from the story after retrieving his bow from the hunter. How did he get to the island before Nizav and the player? (maybe I missed something)
  2. Not sure if it was intentional, but Almagest fight was way more difficult than Vernok's.
  3. When Dhaser commands you to get his bow from the hunter, and the red monsters appear in the cave, in the map where you have to stairs and a road to the akks fountain's chamber, the monsters can make the player stuck without being able to move/attack (if the red one and one of the bats attack at the same time) and they will just keep attacking unti they kill the player.

I really wanted a chance to break the curse and kill Vernok...
Overall, I enjoyed it and will definitely check out Natura 2 when it is ready. Cheers.

1. Although this isn't explicitly stated, it is implied that Crevre and his men kidnapped him. As soon as he was sent on his way to Vernok through the path the player follows later, they probably came back to see if the player would show up at his house. This last part can be vaguely guessed thanks to one of Crevre's Scarlet soldiers. We considered that keeping his disappearance a mystery would make his eventual fate more surprising, since he does appear again a couple times during the story and the player is used to it.
2. Almagest wasn't in the original version of the game. It was only included in the translated and then the Director's Cut version. He is the game's superboss, so his difficulty is very much intentional! Defeating him gives you good EXP and and a piece of equipment that does make the final boss even easier.

3. That is a fair point I had overlooked for a while. I will add it to my list of things to fix for a future version!
Congratulations for finishing the game so quickly! I also appreciate that you spoiler'd the story-related information. Joker is no longer with me, but I will do my best to deliver a Natura 2 that lives up to my own ambitions.

Hello~

I wanted to let you that I think the story of your game is really good so far. Sadly, I find the game quite challenging. I wish there was a way to backtrack, gain items, or heal my character by sleeping etc (besides the one time at a save point).



I just passed that guy's house in the woods, and all of the enemies in the next area (the ghosts) are killing me with a few hits and I have no healing items or anything really.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time. The spectres in the woods take a step at a time, so attack once and retreat immediately and then retreat again. The stronger ghost that appears on its own movest faster at first but eventually slows down before moving fast again. Unlike most enemies, these guys aren't pushed back when you attack them, so you just need to be a little careful. Make full use of the controls and specially of the turn-without-moving feature and this area should be quite easier. If a part is too tough, you can always skip ahead. You'll most likely be healed by a saving point soon!

Thank you for your reply. I followed your advice and ran through the area.

I didn't think I could outrun that red specter on the bride, but I was able to.
Hopefully I'll be able to continue in the game :) . I am most likely underleved from skipping all those specters.

He's a very easy boss, but you have to block his attacks with the shield so he becomes vulnerable.

Get the shield on the ground, equip it and block his attack. You'll make it, I'm sure.

Equipt from the menu and you'll have to press "X" to use it. Press "X" right when the enemy attacks and you'll block his hit.
