“Embrace your inner Darkness”

Game Board.jpg
NOTE: Due to the Content of the Game I do not think I can make this game R13. And so until I find a way to do so without removing the vision of the narrative within, I will not be posting further announcements on this forum. I do have a page being built for this game however and it will be available soon. I just do not think it right to further promote this game on a page for R13 games. I was hoping I could, but to do so would make the game less dark and more comical which destroys the vision of this game. If I am allowed to post the site link, which i do not think I can. I will. If I find away to make an R13 patch it will be posted here. I am sorry if this disappoints any potential players. I respect the community too much to risk promoting this game here. Its too dark and violent and Makes the DCU look light hearted.

1.0 Overview

Necroficer is an RPG that emphasizes Necromantic crafting. Corrupted Blood is centered on the Islands of Saogan. A Dark Tome has been found by a half-Dragon: You. Fight against the Purebloods as your undead army propels You to your ultimate goal: your people restored, and all under Your new and forgotten undead power.

1.02 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

High Concept: Embrace your inner child? No, Inner Darkness! You heard me! You know you wanna…
Game Genre: A 2-D Japanese style role-playing game featuring western RPG elements with a twist!
Setting: A dark Celtic Fantasy world hostile to once peaceful half-breed dragons, like you!
Target Player: Teenagers to adults who love immersive gameplay and strong linear stories, but ultimately really want to be rewarded for villainy. (We know what you did in Skyrim. Don’t lie.)

Play Value:
  • Experience a twisted version of the Hero’s Journey Arc: The Villain’s decent!
  • Immerse yourself in a dark world based on Celtic mythology!
  • Build your lair, scour the lands for Artificer Recipes, and craft your spells and minions.
  • Gain powerful allies and develop friendships with other dark figures like the Cait Sith Witch, the Dearg-Due and Abhartach Vampires.
  • Be rewarded for collecting the Game lore and finding hidden secrets
  • Alter the Saogan Islands through your choices!
  • You have the Artifact, the world has united to stop you. Craft or die, Necroficer!
Appeal: What would make this game different from similar RPG Maker games is its skill level system, crafting mechanics, and storyline.
Game Engine: RPG Maker MV

1.03 STORY PREMISE

Arwan could only watch helplessly as those he loved were brutally massacred. Despite a goddess saving his life, Arwan sets forth on a path of vengeance. Discovering the forgotten ruins of the Dark Necroficer, he joins forces with other halfbreeds and Fae and uses an unholy artifact to craft his spells and undead army to shift the balance of power and change the very fabric of history.

1.04 GAMEPLAY

Join Arwan as he survives the Ilidath purge and tries to make sense of the massacre so unjustly deserved. Team up with other Fae and half breeds sharing similar backgrounds to explore a grim world, fight and craft your way to shifting the balance for them, and restore your people.

Engage enemies in fast-paced battles with a Charge Turn Battle using spells you unlocked not by leveling, but crafting and using. Collect parts of fallen foes to craft artifacts and undead to unleash powerful spells and alter the balance of power. With enough artifacts, Arwan’s power is nearly infinite, but it must be managed carefully.

Search for the pages of the Grimoire and solve clever puzzles. Craft to change the tide of battle to your favor. Gain powerful allies and use your undead to create devastating combination attacks. Craft, and do various quests to control the growth and development of your party. Descend deeper into your inner darkness to craft the legendary Artifacts and restore your bloodline.

1.05 DESIGN PILLARS

  • Exploration: As the game progresses, players are encouraged to explore the islands as they are constantly needing to go through the world and search for items. Like Dragon Age games, the player will be able to travel to the different regions, islands, find side quests, and meet unique characters that evolve their character, party, and base.
  • Customization: This game will feature many customizing options. From equipment to recipes and ingredients for spells and undead, to ammunition, food items, and base upgrades that alter game aesthetics and help them survive environmental and world hazards. The player choice affects party stats, skills, states, and storylines, while puzzle and combat offer multiple solutions.
  • Leveling, Crafting and skill Advancement: In traditional RPG games, crafting is not a core feature and skills are based on Character level. In Necroficer, Leveling only advances attributes The player must craft their spells and undead from finding recipes in the world and use them to increase their potency. This works in unison with the story making crafting a core mechanical feature
  • Story: Like Last of Us, Necroficer is a linear game with a heavily narrative lead. Everything ties into the story. Crafting exploration, and Choice even ties into the backgrounds plot and outcomes. Solidifying the Necroficer lore, and the Character’s story, the player can choose the best path between two evils, not the lesser of them.

2.0 CORE GAME MECHANICS
2.02 GAME FLOW: THE NECROFICER CRAFTING SYSTEM

Necroficer Crafting Mecganics Diagram.jpg

Necroficer’s Crafting System is cyclic as follows:
  • Crafting Branch:
    • Like Skyrim and most western RPGs Each crafting branch is separated by type. When the Player accesses their chosen station a UI Menu pops up.
  • Recipe Unlocked:
    • If the Player has found a recipe, it is logged into his Grimoire and codex.
    • Unlocked recipes will show in their branches Menu at the station listing the item name and details, plus ingredient cost.
  • Ingredient Cost:
    • The amount of ingredients to craft an item. These can vary upon how to get depending on item type and the craft class
  • Craft Item:
    • If the player has the Recipe and Ingredients can generate the Item synthesis
  • End Result:
    • The results vary by crafting class and can result in items, skills, spell counters, game features, ect.
2.21 CRAFTING BRANCHES

This subtopic discusses the types of Crafting Branches and thier unique features. If the recipe is not found, the item cannot be shown or crafted. Each Craft Branch has thier own respective restrictions on recipes, but the Recipes are tier classed:

Recipe Tiers:

Common- Shops

Rare- Side quests

Legendary- Party quests

Mythical- the player has to follow lore "Bread Crumbs" to find these recipes

God Class- (Name pending) Main Quest recipes the Final Quest type

Necromancy:

This branch grants the player to craft undead minions from recipes he finds in quests, secret lairs, and Artifices for spells. The items are body parts founding graveyards and dropped from monsters. Keeping with the game lore, no recipe can be found in shops from this branch. Some Artifices are required to unlock spell crafting in the Arcane Branch. Minions crafted can be specific NPCs, or increases the Undead variable, or counter, used in base building and Necromancy spells. The first Item to be crafted is the Player's Grimoire (name pending).

Arcane:

Arcane Branch allows the player to learn almost every spell that is Arcane or Elemental based type excluding the Divine class. Recipes are hard to find but require a spell book of the magic, and an artifice crafted from the Necromancy branch. Once crafted the level 1 version of the spell is unlocked and added into their respective spell class.

Smithing:

If it is made of metal it can be found here. Smithing Branch allows the player to craft weapons, armor, items, and upgrades from the various types of ore found in the game. Recipes can be bought in the shop, but better recipes are found in quest rewards, and rare items are hidden. Items crafted wll go to thier designated inventory slot.

Leatherwork:

This crafting branch requires items dropped from monsters and enemies. Animal pelts can be hunted or bought. While skins of sentient creatures require a certain level of Darkness discussed in a separate mechanic feature. Most recipes can be bought or found in quests while others can only be given by certain individuals. Items crafted will go to thier designated inventory slot.

Alchemy:

The player can find alchemy ingredients from animals and plants. Recipes can be found in specific shops or certain characters and dungeon loot.

Architect:

This is a unique crafting branch for base building. Recipes are given by a certain NPC for the base building quest line. End results result in map changes for the Player base.

Cooking.

This crafting feature also includes a modifier based on player cooking skill level. Cooking stations can be found in Mother's House, Camp, Gwondie's Hut, and the Player base. Cooking recipes can be found in quests or shops and generate food for the player. food is required to keep the player hunger level down. This will be explained in another mechanic topic. Food items will generate a food counter that is monitored every tick.

@Kupotepo thanks.

Update: Revisioned Ilidath Village Map. Using FSM Material and some RTP tile recolors and tilesets by Candacis and Chiara. Altered the water opacity for a reflective surface. I am currently trying to figure out how to swap the tiles for windows and parallax maps from dark window and clouds on the sea to light or closed windows and starry sky. I am also trying to figure a way to add shadow clouds that hovers over the village that mirrors the clouds parallax.

I saw your poll at the top and I voted for other. Being someone that doesn't know how to properly pronounce the name, my initial thought sounded like "Necr - Officer" like some kind of undead police man. Haha and I feel like that's not really what you're going for. Anyways, the only option not containing Necroficer was Corrupted Blood and after reading your post, personally it just didn't feel like it fit to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the general atmosphere of the game will it be slightly comical. Is that not what you're planning? I think that's why the names sound a little too serious to me. I don't know, maybe I'm missing it big time but that's just how I felt reading about the game. Sounds like a fun game though!

Corrupted Blood is a storyline reference. Its a derogatory term for half breeds in the game. The first Necroficers were Halfbreeds. One used his abilities for good, the other for evil. Because the evil one's actions, all half-breeds were punished despite their innocence. Most of the Fae and half fae (Non Elf or humans) were wiped out. Dragons for example, were all wiped out save his mother. As for other, I did say leave comments.

The game is designed to be dark, and serious but fun. You witness the village getting wiped out, you see the character change, but you also get to explore battle and develop relationships. There are comical references in the game. For example, the Main Character's mother is a vegan dragon who is afraid of rats. She's obsessed over her vegetables.

Ahh I see. Well hearing all of that, I would say that "Corrupted Blood" sounds MUCH more fitting now to me. With it being a generally dark game, having the word "blood" in the title makes a lot of sense.

I'm fine with Necroficer, as the name is part of your lore. I'd also be fine with the title including the subtitle, as it suggests that there are more parts and it is easier to google if someone doesn't remember the word Necroficer.... ah oh no... now that I think about it I actually prefer The Necroficer: Corrupted Blood...

But otherwise, that looks like a solid gdd. The amount of information given is quite enough without being too technical for people to get an idea of your game. I'm looking forward to playing your first demo.
