Need help!! :( Conditional Branches

I'm about ready to break my keyboard in half I'm so frustrated. I have been trying for hours to get a simple conditional switch to work. I have tried everything, I have watched tutorials...I cannot get simple conditional branches to work.

All I want is this:

If someone tries to go upstairs and switch A is triggered display text a.

if they try to go upstairs and switch b is triggered display text b

if both switches are triggered go upstairs.

Ive tried to do this by saying

If switch a is triggered,
display text a
else
if
switch b is triggered
display text b
else
go upstairs

I've tried to do it by the reverse
autorun set both switches to on
erase event
If switch a is off
display text a
else
if
switch b is off
display text b
else
go upstairs

I've tried with both self switches and regular switches


I also tried separate event pages along the same concept.

NOTHING CAUSES ANYTHING TO HAPPEN.

I walk into the stairs and nothing happens no matter what switches are on or off.

I've watched tutorials for over an hour and I couldn't be more frustrated with this.

Can someone PLEASE help me :(

Note that with 2 switches you have four possible game states, i.e.
  • 1 and 2 are both off
  • 1 is on, 2 is off
  • 1 is off, 2 is on
  • 1 and 2 are both on
However, you only handle three cases here. Maybe you have it set up so switch 1 can only be on if switch 2 is also on or something? :kaoswt:

Anyway, your event says:
If switch 1 is on, display "get on computer" text; if not:
If switch 2 is on, display "grab phone" text; if not:
Transfer!​
I.e. it will transfer iff both switches are OFF.

You could restructure it like this~

wrong priority

priority determines where the player has to stand to trigger an event.

below character: the player has to stand on the tile with the event
same as character: the player cannot enter the tile with the event and has to stand next to it, facing it to trigger
above character. event is out of the way and can't be triggered or interacted with

you have at least one of the pages above character, which means it cannot be triggered

I just made an Above Player event with Player Touch trigger in a v1.6.2 project and I can trigger an it by walking "under" it...not sure if something's wrong on my end or you just misremembered? :kaoswt:

Spent a whole bunch of time today reworking the area in the video because someone said it was too illusory. So I reworked it so it changes less, moved the grass up to the same level as the player.... And found enough extra resources to make the grass moves when the player touches it. Also lots more water, because it looks amazing. I'll probably put up a short updated video later today.
