Hey everyone I plan on making a side scroller but I'm not exactly sure what the best way to make some assets for the game.

If anyone has seen the game "Lisa" I would want software that can make stuff that goes along the lines of that. (I like the style I don't want to copy it)

Preferably free (or a reasonable price)

Thanks for the help!

You should probably explain what you mean, for those of us who haven't seen that game. Unless you only want answers from those who have ;)

Dunno about making it, but animating it in Spriter Pro is definitely an option. It's a great little program I've used for various things, fantastic at doing animations.

But why should we?
This is an extremely helpful community, and some people spent hours to fulfill requests for free - but that is always on the condition that the requester takes the minimum courtesy to provide all information needed.

Don't forget: You're asking people to spent their free time on your project instead of their own.

When you do that, we can at minimum expect the courtesy of you providing all needed information, no one here will help you if you expect them to waste time to search for what you need.

Or in other words: if you don't care enough of your own idea to put in the time to describe it, why should anyone else care for it enough to waste any more time?

Yep. Not that we're lazy, but we're flat out, and many people need help. If I have to choose between helping two people, I'll choose the one who's provided the most information and doesn't require me searching for anything. If you already know where it is, just provide a link to it, or describe it (I also won't follow a link and watch a 15 minute video hoping that at least a part of it clearly displays what you're after).

The more you can do to make it easier/faster for people to understand what you're after, the more people will be in a position to help :)

Well like, dude it took my literally 5 seconds to look it up.
Didn't think it would be such a big deal with people :I

In the time you wrote that whole reply you probably could have looked it up 30 times. :L

Almighty, Understandable. I'll try to be more descriptive next time. I was just kinda assuming you guys would know the game, my mistake.

Well, sure, but Andar isn't an artist, he's not the one you're asking for help.  It would take you 5 seconds to look up and just a few more to link to one or two of those images.  It's not that it's a big deal, it's just that there are lots and lots of games out there and there are people on here from all over the world.  You can never assume anyone knows what you're talking about.  Andar was just letting you know what's considered polite around here.

So, pixel art?  Yep, agree with Archeia.  Not familiar with JPixel, so I can't say anything about that, but Graphics Gale (animation) and Pixel Edit (best for tiles, also does animation but not as well) are both highly recommended.  If you got the game making Humble Bundle then Pro Motion would work well too.

Never heard of jpixel, or can find anything about it other than it's main page.

I'd recommend Graphics Gale as well. It's great for simple pixel jobs, and I normally use it in combination with adobe photoshop for my work. Try out all the recommended software to see which one/s you feel most comfortable with.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
