Hi, in my game you choose male or female and then between four different characters. You pick your name as well. I had a problem with showing the characters face graphic. I wanna choose my face graphic for the character but I don't know which actor the player will pick, so I can't.  So does anyone know how I can select what face graphic for whatever character the player chooses?

All help is highly appreciated

when typing in a text box, hover your mouse in the text box for a few seconds a list of commandcodes will come up. use \N(name here but without parenthesis) to take the name of the character. for example, if the player selects the male (in database the male chaaracters number is 001 for example.) and names him fred. then if you were typing a message and wanted to use freds name, but wanted it to change for each selection, you would put a branch code. if male was selected, then down the road for the male path type "hi my name is \N001 or something similir (i may be off by a letter or 2) and it should show freds name in that place. i know that this is probably very confusing. but if you try it, youll more than likely understand it. its very useful. however, idk how to help with your other problem :/ sorry

I think the code is \N[1] to enter an actor's particular name.  I wouldn't add an actor to the party based on what's picked, but instead change the first actor's class and appearance.  This way you don't need 8 different conditionals every time the main character's name is uttered (unless you want to take the easy route and give them the last name Shepard or something).

Dunno anythnig about the face part though.

I had that at first but like I said, If I did that how would I be able to change the face graphic to the character chosen? Like if the player chooses ex:1, and I change the main actors graphic to ex:1, how will I change the face graphic to example 1

umm maybe you could do a form of variable checking? like have it set a variable when they choose the option, and do a variable check to see which image to display in relation too it. oh and also, just some friendly advice, try not to double post within the same hour. or the mods'll getcha! XD

Wait I use a sideview battle script, it needs the characters to be placed in the battlers sections. How would I be able to change the graphic of the battler based on which character the player chooses

That depends on the battle script. There is no event command to change an actor's battler picture because in default, the actor has no battler picture.

That's the reason why all sideview-battles have to use tricks like notetags to get the info about the selected battler into the game's engine.

That said, you most probably have to cancel that idea. If your battescript doesn't give you a command to change the battler picture ingame, then it's most likely not possible to change the actor's battler picture in that battlescript - and the scripts I know of use fixed notetags to set those battler sprites...

You might make a workaround with a large number of predefined actors, each set to a different fixed battler - but that would limit the character selection for the player.

Link us to the specific CBS you're using and we might tell you more...

I found a new cbs that works fine, it seems everything works.
