Hi ! I'm fairly new to this RPG maker(I use the Ace version by the way) but I understand most of the basic already.


okay on the question. A few days ago, I played this rpg horror game called 'misao' and what really fascinate me is the death scene. so my question is


1- How do you make the death scene? do you need special script? I saw this scene where Aki saw a locker moving , she gets near it and boom! the locker fall on top of her and squish her. Is there any script that made it that way ? would love to use it as I'm planning to make a horror rpg.

There are several ways to make endgame scenes, depending on how the game over is called - some require scripts, others require only eventing

The rest (reactions to player moving to a position) can be done by pure eventing - I suggest you follow the link in my signature to the basic tutorials and learn how to handle the engine first.

yes - everything can be done (and a lot has been done already, the master script list contains over 1000 scripts to change the engine), it all depends on the amount of work you're willing to put in. Some things require too much work for a single person however, but an horror-RPG (as opposed to an fantasy RPG) should pose no problem at all.

If you're talking about other types of horror games than horror-RPGs, that will depend on exactly what you want to do - platformers or action games require more work, but have been done and scripts for them exist.

By the way - you do not need to quote an entire post to answer, especially if its the post above yours.

Ahhh I see. haha , sorry. I'm new here so I didnt know my way around. hehe. Thanks Andar for your help. sorry for the late reply as I 'm busy with my new project . it's a horror game.

by the way, I have a question. I made an Intro where the player gets to choose his/her type of character . if he choose boy they should use the boy. If he choose girl, then they should end up using the girl. I had no problem with choosing the boy character but when I choose girl , it just shows up an empty space. mind telling me what i'm doing wrong here?

Most probably the girl actor doesn't have the correct graphics set. Please show us screenshotsa of the chosing event and both actors in the database, then we can tell you where the problem lies.

I'm not sure how in depth you are trying to go with this (customizing the character, etc) but from what you say it should be as simple as something like this

-Using a show text event command say something like: Before beginning please choose the gender you would like to play as.

-Then use a show choices event command with choice one being boy and choice two being girl (make sure to set it that the player can't cancel the choice as it automitcally goes to choice two i believe in that scenario)

-If the player picks boy use an event command to add your boy actor to the party, if the player picks the second option girl have them add the girl actor to the party.

End the event or carry on however you wish from there.

Thanks guys.The problem is solved. but now im stuck on the text. haha

can I make it something like this:

if I choose the male i get a different speech and the same goes with female

it possible? or do i need a script to do that?

No script, but an awful lot of work.

Each piece of dialogue will need to be in a conditional branch which checks which option the player chose.  If it was the male it runs one piece of dialogue, if it was the female it runs another.

how do you make those while the character is moving ?

For footsteps, you'll need a script - there is one from Galv on the master script list that creates event effects like footsteps and mirror images


Be warned that such scripts will require more processing power - you might get lag on slower machines if you place more events and event scripts.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
