Need help setting up some quests

Ok I have a couple of problems let me lay the scene out for you first 

Hero wakes up in his room  (cut scene tells him to go down stairs for breakfast) his dad is in the study I have it to where if he talks to dad before mom he just says "oh hi son your up early"  hero takes stairs down (cut scene describing mom cooking breakfast) goes and talks to mom which starts dialogue between hero and mom about hang over and grandma's cure which hero receives then she says your fathers looking for you so hero returns upstairs when he talks to dad this time dad says I need your help can you run to your brothers house and pick up the book i loaned him all is good there now here is problem one 

1.)when I get the book and try to talk to him he won't switch over to the new event page with the conditional branch on it he just says the same thing about going to get the book he loaned the brother how do i set it to switch to that text when I talk to the brother

And

2.) How do I set up a with the brother to kill ten rats before he will give me the book

someone please help so I can get on with my game this is just my first two quests and I've been over the turorials over and over again 

even the ones on you tube

IF you can please use images they help me figure out what your talking about

Thank you so much ummm one other thing say I want to create a scene that happens before it shows the characters starting point how would I go about that

Go to Database > System > Options in the upper right > Check Transparency on


Turn it back to transparency off when you want the player to appear.

ok I played the variable game and I'm still not getting it I have tried to do it the way the tutourial game does with the slimes but after i tell him yeah I killed them it acts like I didn't kill the ten rats

and what I was talking about the cut scene is like the hero starts in his bed room but I want to do some scenes before that in which it shows why he is where he is

everything is exactly the same as the tutourial but he isn't recognizing the rats deaths

For the Slimes part you'll probably want to use a Conditional Branch.

It'd look something like the following...

Slimes defeated

@> Whatever comes next

Else

@> Whatever you want it to do when they haven't met the criteria

As for the cutscene, I think you'll want to play with either Parallel Process or Autorun.  It'd help, as Deb said, to make sure Transparency is On before starting the scene, and have it turn Off later on.

Really hoping that helps, if it doesn't, I know there are folks who can explain it more clearly.  :|

I don't think I'm explaining it very well I have gotten the conditional branch part done its just the variable part where it adds one rat each time i kill one thats not working

and the about the cut scene I was to keep my starting position but show a scene before that where the char is in his brothers house drinking with friends like this 

fade in main char walks to his brothers house goes in and all his buddies and his brother are sitting around a table playing cards and drinking bunch of dialogue between chars then fade out and add text then fade back in on main chars starting position and start game

lol im bout ready to change it to a collect items from rats quest 

oh and is there a way to make rain animations on an exterior map

what book part?

Please do the tutorials I linked you to in the second post.

There are some eventing tutorials in GrandmaDeb's Tutorial list - if you don't understand these, then you need to start with the basic tutorials.

Your questions show that you've still problems with some of the more basic concepts of the RPGM, and you should stop working on your game and start another project just for messing around with the tutorials and the editor.

There are also several sample games that you can open and learn how they did that, for example the opening scene - the links to the sample games are also in my topic "starting point for new users".

Sorry - but before we can really help you, you need to learn a few basics - otherwise we would be making your game for you, and most of us don't have the time for that :p

Especially the variables guide is vital for game making, and you won't get past basic quest options if you don't understand what's explained in there.
