Hey hey!

I'm a bit lost at the moment, as I am making a horror/survival RPG, and am currently eventing a chase scene. I need an event to follow the player, and I know you can set its move route to follow and/or it's autonomous movement to approach, but this simply makes it move in the direction of the player, so in a winding map as featured below, the chaser can be caught trying to run into a wall -.-.

So what I need is a script/event feature that can make the event move in the same tracks as the character, so navigate around exactly as the current actor does. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Sincerely, Your fellow Ninja.

this isn't a simple request, because too much depends on the map for simple solutions. No matter how you go at it, for a complex map you'll need a script to solve that problem.

It could be either a script that stores the player's move on the map in an array to have the event follow that exactly (which also means that it will only reach the player if the player pauses, as it will also follow any wrong steps), or you can look on the master script list for one of the pathfinding scripts (which will give the monster the shortest route to the current position of the player.

Google search and you will find lots of path finding script for this purpose (i.e Modern Algebra, karanum's) but do takes note that some scripts can cause lag and minor issues like syntax errors. Some of them requires you to understand the mechanism on how it works ( the variables, direction coordinate) before you could applied it into your games.

I am avoiding using any of these path-finding scripts due to these issues and just fine by sticking to default based setting when having chase event in my game since I made my maps are quite simple and  had less objects or obstacles blocking the way.

Hmm. A script would be fine, but I haven't been able to see any on my google search as mightydarkchocolate kindly suggested. I will keep looking, however. Thank you for the help, as I have now narrowed down that this cannot be done with the already implemented features in Ace, and I will most likely need a script.

Google is a bad choice for searching RM-Related stuff, because it contains too much other results and RM is a small community.
Better use this forum's search (searching for pathfinding will turn up several topics where several solutions are requested or discussed), or search directly on the master script list (which will show four or five different pathfinding scripts)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
